Superman Prequel Has Found Its Female Lead

Georgina Campbell has joined Krypton to play the female lead!

In a show that honestly, I still don’t quite understand its purpose is moving forward in a major way and has found its female lead.

SYFY’s Superman Prequel has officially its lead and this is a VERY GOOD CHOICE.

According to Deadline, Krypton has added Murdered by My Boyfriend star Georgina Campbell to play the show’s female lead. She has also appeared in One Night, Tripped, and, more recently, in After Hours. The 24-year-old British actress bagged the BAFTA Television Award for Leading Actress last year.

The name of Campbell’s character in the upcoming DC Comics-based show is Lyta Zod. The character is described as “a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general, Alura Zod”. She “serves as a cadet — and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El”. Krypton will follow the story of Superman’s grandfather Seg-El!

Seg-El is Superman’s grandfather, and Krypton follows his fight “to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos” after the House of El was“ostracized and shamed”. So, the show is actually set two generations ahead of the destruction of Superman’s home planet.

Cast members for Seg-El; his father Ter-El and grandfather Val-El; Lyta’s mother Alura Zod; and the “chiseled twenty-something bad boy” Dev-Em are yet to be announced. However, it is safe to assume that we will come across more casting announcements in the next few months, as they are eyeing a 2017 launch.

The outlet also reveals that the Krypton pilot will be filmed in Serbia, with Colm McCarthy sitting behind the camera and Damian Kindler serving as the showrunner.

As much as I would love to have hope for this show. My biggest concern is; who actually cares about Krypton pre-Superman even being born.
