Spiderman Has Been in the MCU for a While Now

With Spiderman:Homecoming just a week away not only is the anticipation building but we are starting to get a bit more information about Peter Parker. Now we initially thought that our first introduction to Peter in the MCU came in Captain America:Civil War but the web-slinger himself Tom Holland has delivered another tidbit of information.

Remember in Iron Man 2 when the hammer drones went rogue at the Stark Expo? Well there is a belief that the youngster wearing an Iron Man mask who stands up to one of Justin Hammer’s drones is, in fact, the future Spider-Man.

In a recent interview, the actor revealed that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has told him that the kid saved by Tony Stark is indeed Peter.

“I can confirm that is Peter Parker. I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I’ve just done a big, old spoiler, but it’s out there now. It’s cool,” he added. “I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.”

Whether or not that was meant to be Peter at the time is hard to say and it’s something that only Feige and Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau probably know for sure. Either way, this is an incredible Easter Egg and one hell of a retcon which gives Spidey a very special place in the MCU. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out whether or not this moment is actually referenced in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
