Wonder Woman 2 will be a “totally different” film from its predecessor. This is what was said recently by director Patty Jenkins when it comes to the highly successful blockbuster film Wonder Woman. Now Patty Jenkins has followed up her remarks with a bit more information at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Also teased a possible appearance by Wonder Woman television star Lynda Carter while speaking with ET Canada.
“We’re actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it’s its own movie completely, so it’s not ‘two’ to us,” she explained. “It’s an entirely new adventure together that we couldn’t be luckier [to do].”
Wonder Woman 2 is set to go into production later on this year for a 2019 release. We do not know much yet about the film except that Jenkins has already said that there will be new characters and even a new love interest. Jenkins has insisted that she indeed has been attempting to get former Wonder Woman (Carter) to share the screen with the current Princess (Gadot), however nothing is confirmed.
“Lynda is one of the dearest people to us, has been a great mentor and dear friend. And we actually desperately tried to get her in the first one and we had the scheduling that couldn’t work, so she’s always been a part of our Wonder Woman family,” she shared. “We won’t say anything yet, but we certainly — there’s no lack of trying.”
Carter was at the premiere for Wonder Woman last year to support Jenkins and star Gal Gadot, she also notably came to the defense of Patty Jenkins when Titanic director James Cameron criticized the film. Carter has been slowly integrating her way back into the DC universe as President Olivia Marsdin on The CW’s Supergirl.
Wonder Woman 2 arrives in theaters on November 1, 2019.
