Ant-Man And The Wasp Will Mainly Focus On Finding Hope’s Mother

Now after the events of the first Ant-Man movie and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) being able to go in and out of the quantum realm and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) being skeptical of the ability to traverse the unknown dimension after his wife Janet Van Dyne became lost in it. So it seemed only reasonable that the sequel primarily focuses on heading into that dimension to retrieve the long lost Van Dyne.

Entertainment Weekly was doing their annual Summer Movie Preview and Evangeline Lilly who will be reprising her role as Hope Van Dyne who will become The Wasp, spoke with them about her feelings on becoming the first female superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to see her name in the title of a film with Ant-Man and The Wasp. “It means a lot to me. If I’m honest with myself, I feel a lot of pressure to make sure that it is everything that the world wants it to be.” lilly then also offers some insight into Hope’s journey throughout the film, which she acknowledges will primarily be focused on finding and rescuing her mother from an uncertain fate. Lilly says, “Scott entered the Quantum Realm in the first film and came back, which is something they thought was impossible. The question has arisen, ‘Can Janet come back?’ So the entire film, my character is hell-bent on finding a way to get into the Quantum Realm and bring her back.

Hope’s mother will be played by the phenomenal Michelle Pfeiffer. Director Peyton Reed talks about how she was able to play catch with the world of superhero films being that her last involvement in the world was back in 1992 with her being the Catwoman in Batman Returns. “She hasn’t done one of these films since she played Catwoman with Tim Burton. It was really interesting to bring her in and get her up to speed on all the mythology and her place in this world.

I’m very excited for this film, then to add Laurence Fishburne, Walton Goggins and Hannah John-Kamen, Marvel may have another successful franchise within the MCU.
