SHAZAM! 2 Will Strike Into Theaters On April 2022

Shazam

Just say the word, the sequel to Warner Bros and New Line Cinema’s hit superhero film, SHAZAM! will be striking back into theaters on April of 2022 with SHAZAM! 2. Zachary Levi is set to reprise his role as the big cheese, the adult version of Billy Batson. the film’s original screenplay writer  Henry Gayden has been tapped to write the DC superhero movie’s sequel.

The first SHAZAM! made a shock at the box office for Levi, director David F. Sandberg and Peter Safran as it grossed $140 million domestically and $364 worldwide.

SHAZAM! starred Asher Angel as Billy Batson, an orphan who runs away from foster home to foster home in search of his mother whom he was separated from as a toddler. He is eventually bestowed magical superpowers unto him by a wizard (Djimon Hounsou), that transforms him into his full potential in adult form (Zachary Levi). He must battle Doctor Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) and stop the Seven Deadly Sins from reeking havoc and destruction upon the world.  Billy is also aided in this task by his foster brother, Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) and their other foster siblings.

It is not yet been reported if Asher, Strong, Grazer as well the other foster children or even their adult counterparts will be returning to the film.

Something else worth nothing, Warner Bros just the day before announced that BLACK ADAM starring Dwayne Johnson will be released in December of 2021. We have to wait and see if the end of that film will tie directly into this sequel.

Check out the panel our own resident super villain, Jay Washington moderated with Angel at FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention in April of this year.
