This is news that many people were waiting to hear about. Especially since it was announced the DOOM PATROL would be making its move from the DC Universe streaming app over to the HBO Max streaming platform. But the announcement that was made may add some more excitement.
The sophomore season of DOOM PATROL which originally was a DC Universe exclusive, will debut on HBO Max and DCU on June 25 simultaneously, as announced by WarnerMedia on Wednesday.
Back in January at the Television Critics Association, HBO Max content chief Kevin Reilly said regarding HBO Max and DCU: “We have to figure out those two subscriptions and we haven’t worked out the mechanics of what that’s going to look like.” This is because it was initially believed by many that the DC Universe service would be absorbed into HBO Max.
It seems the mechanics have been worked out regarding “Doom Patrol,” a A crew member who has worked on multiple DC Universe shows told Business Insider that HBO Max had been heavily involved in season two.
DOOM PATROL is not the only DC Universe series that’s not exclusive to the service. STARGIRL premieres this upcoming Monday on DCU and will air the next day on the CW Network. The network also recently acquired the rights to season one of DCU’s SWAMP THING which was abruptly canceled last year.
One thing is for sure, the reviews on this will return and hoping for another incredible performance from Brendan Fraser and Diane Guerrero.
