MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D may be coming to an end on ABC but it seems as if it may not be the last superhero show we will see on the television network.

During the winter TCA press tour, ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said that she was looking forward to working with Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige. She also made it be known that they had not discussed specifically which of the Marvel comics based characters would be suited for broadcast television.

“We love our partners at Marvel and we’re sad to see [Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D] go, it’s been a big part of our history. We’re looking forward to working with Kevin Feige and we’re at the very beginning of conversations with him now about what a Marvel and ABC show might look like. Right now, Marvel’s focus has been on Disney+, as it should be,” This from Burke as she spoke with DEADLINE.

Who would you like to see fill the broadcast television hole that will be left behind after AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D takes its final bow?

MARVEL’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D To End After Season 7

agentsofshield

While many are getting hyped up about the return of MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D for its sixth and follow up seventh season as well as hours before its Comic-Con panel in Hall H, it has been announced that the Marvel TV show will come to an end after its seventh season.

It is worth noting that ABC had already announced that the seventh batch of episodes would be shorter that previous seasons and of course many assumed that the show would finally be coming to an end, despite countless rumors of its impending cancellations before these upcoming seasons were announced.

However there may be a ray of sunshine amidst this bad news which is, that the people working on the show can now ensure that we get a satisfying and complete story ending. not like the Netflix Marvel that all ended abruptly due to their sudden cancellations.

How do you feel about this news? Are you sad to see the show come to an end?

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Gets Renewed For 7th Season

The heroes that fight the battles in the MCU that we do not know about will be returning for a 7th season. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has just been renewed for its 7th season.  This announcement comes just six months after it was announced that the show would be returning for its sixth season.

Many people believed that the sixth would be the final season given that the main character in Phil Coulson (played by Clark Gregg) had died in a sense but potentially not. The universe of comic book tv shows always tend to offer a twist.

The series stars Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons, Henry Simmons as Agent Alphonso “Mack” MacKenzie and Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez.

Female Superhero Project Is In The Works From Marvel and ABC With ‘Wonder Woman’ writer

allan-heinberg-abc

It seems as if ABC has not yet fully stepped itself out of the superhero television game.ABC has reportedly given a production commitment to a series that will feature female Marvel superheroes the story was first broke by Deadline.

In what seems to be an amazing choice, Allan Heinberg, who wrote the screenplay for “Wonder Woman.” The exact details of the project are being kept under wraps, so no word yet on exactly which characters from the Marvel universe will be featured. This now may open the door for the Lady Liberators or even A-force or maybe an all new collective of heroes altogether

Heinberg innaddition to wtiting the Wonder Woman screenplay is a veteran comic book writer for Marvel and DC, Heinberg’s television credits include “The Catch,” “The Naked Truth,” “Party Of Five,” “Sex And The City,” “Gilmore Girls,” “The O.C.,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Looking,” and “Scandal.”

The reason in which this is also an intriguing development is that it was believed Marvel would no longer be developing shows for ABC as their focus would shift to the upcoming Disney streaming platform next year. Marvel is currently in development on limited series that would focus on Marvel Cinematic Universe characters, such as Loki and Scarlet Witch.

OF COURSE Fans are petitioning for INHUMANS to be renewed

We are clearly in the day and age where everyone is pretty much petitioning for everything. Well even though nobody thought that this would even have to be a conversation piece, it is now.  Fans have actually started a petition to bring back Marvel’s Inhumans. Yes, that’s right the same Inhumans that opened in IMAX to extremely negative reviews and subsequent ones that followed during its run on ABC.

Now it needs to be noted that the series isn’t OFFICIALLY cancelled as of yet. it has however been removed from the ABC website which people are pretty certain it means the end for them.

But that was enough to mobilize the troops. In a petition on Change.org fans are calling  for Inhumans to receive a second chance. It acknowledges the series’ faults, asks that a potential second season receive both a larger budget as well as a showrunner who better understands the property’s mythology.  The showrunner was  Scott Buck, who oversaw the first season if you recall, faced a lot of criticism before Inhumans in his previous Marvel work, the first season of Iron Fist. Which makes us wonder why was he put on another project in the first place?

According to the petition, the series never really was given a fair shot, and should be handled by  its dedicated cast should deserve a second go at the characters.

While ABC has not officially canceled Inhumans, many have assumed its demise to be a foregone conclusion. But, until an official announcement is made, Inhumans could still have a bit of life left in it….but is more than likely doesn’t right?????

Another ‘Game Of Thrones’ Stars joins the Marvel Universe

Iwan Rheon

When you want to get a bad guy/girl for your tv show, your best bet may be to go with someone who has the experience

It’s been reported that “Game of Thrones” star Iwan Rheon has been cast as the lead in Marvel’s “Inhumans” series for ABC.

Rheon recently starred as the villainous Ramsay Bolton on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”

Based on the classic Marvel comic book characters created by by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, “Inhumans” tells the story of a race of super-powered beings who first appeared in Marvel Comics publications in 1965. Inhuman characters appeared last season on ABC drama “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.” The new series, however, will not be a spinoff of “SHIELD.” It will focus on Black Bolt, the leader of the Inhumans, and his family.

Rheon will play Maximus the Mad, Black Bolt’s younger brother — intelligent, charming and articulate, he comes across as man of the people but secretly covets power. Rheon’s character was memorably killed off of “Game of Thrones” toward the end of last season.

“Iwan’s ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We’re thrilled to have him on board,” said Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television and executive producer.

“Inhumans” is set to premiere this fall on ABC, which gave it a straight-to-series order last year. The first two episodes will premiere in IMAX theaters before the broadcast debut. Produced by Marvel Television and ABC Studios, the series is executive produced by Scott Buck, who will serve as showrunner. Buck is also executive producer and showrunner on Netflix’s upcoming Marvel drama series “Iron Fist.”

Check Out Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider

Well a big thank you indeed goes out to Entertainment Weekly for this one. We were wondering what would the Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider character (played by Gabriel Luna) on the 3rd season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D would look like and now we have it.

I’d have to say its pretty spot on to its comic book counter part even though we only see him in human form. More than likely ABC and Marvel are saving the FLAMING reveal for the actual tv show and do not want to spoil it.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns Tuesday, Sept. 20 on ABC, in the new time slot of 10 p.m./9 p.m. Central.
