Jonathan Majors Is Headed To The MCU In A Lead Role

In a major announcement, Jonathan Majors (LOVECRAFT COUNTRY, THE LAST BLACK MAN IN SAN FRANCISCO, DA 5 BLOODS) is now headed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and in a major way, no pun intended. Majors has joined the sequel to ANT-MAN AND THE WASP in a lead role and according to sources at DEADLINE, it as the super-villain, KANG THE CONQUEROR.

The sources close to the trad also mentioned that there could be a twist with how the character of Kang is featured in future films, but as of now he is likely to be one of the main villains in the next installment in the franchise. In the comics Kang is a time-traveling entity who had battles with everyone from Thor to Spider-Man to the entire Avengers team.

Peyton Reed who has directed the first two ANT-MAN films is returning to helm the third one which stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly.

Another interesting fact about the character is that he is a possible descendant of the FANTASTIC FOUR’s Reed Richards from the future more so the 31st century. So this may have a tie-in to the future FF film in the MCU but we have to see.

FANTASTIC FOUR May Arrive In The MCU Sooner Than We Expected

standard_incredible

It seems as if Marvel’s first family will be making their arrival into the MCU sooner than thought by many.  Rumor is circulating that the Fantastic Four will make their MCU feature film arrival in 2022.

That’s only three years away which means this has had the wheels in motion for some time leading up to the closing on the Disney acquisition of Fox. The rumor comes courtesy of the GWW, which states that Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige are planning to put the first family back on the big screen in 2022. Which would be the latest shot at after two movies from Tim Story, and the lets just say OTHER version directed by Josh Trank.

The report from the GWW mentions that Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed is pitching his own concept for the characters, which we’ve known for a while now because Reed has never been shy about his love for the characters. The biggest part in the story is the timeline which comes as the shock.

In case you were curious as to how Reed would introduce the heroes, Reed spoke at a COLLIDER Q&A of Ant-Man and the Wasp and broke down his idea for the group,

“I developed it for about a year and we went through some different permutations and some different writers, but yes, one of the big ideas was a set-in-the-’60s thing that at the time was structurally gonna be basically like [The Beatles’ 1964 comedy-musical] A Hard Day’s Night, where we were not going to even deal with the origin story,” Reed said.

“It was just going to be like you’re in Downtown Manhattan and they’re there. It was a pretty exciting idea. At the time — again this was 2002 or ’03 — early on, way pre-MCU, I felt like Fox was not gonna make it.”

Hopefully we will get some sort of confirmation on this at this year’s San Diego Comic Con from Marvel.

Ant-Man Actor Heading To The Suicide Squad

daviddastmalchian.jpg

The incredible character actor known for his work in both Marvel Studios films Ant-Man and Ant-Man & The Wasp is heading back over into the DC film franchise.

David Dastmalchian has closed his deal to become one of the stars of The Suicide Squad directed by James Gunn and it is being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that he will be portraying the villain known as the Polka-Dot Man

Dastmalchian will now join Margot Robbie, who is returning as  Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney, back as Captain Boomerang, and Idris Elba, it is yet to be disclosed who he will be portraying.

james Gunn who is also the director for Marvel Studios Guardians Of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is writing and directing The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. As far as the plot of the film goes, what is known about  The Suicide Squad follows David Ayer’s 2016 film Suicide Squad, but rather than a straight sequel, this is described as a new take on the property from the mind of Gunn that will feature a mix of new and old characters.

Plot details are being kept secret but the new characters include DC villains such as Ratcatcher (she controls rats), Peacemaker (he loves peace so much he will kill for it), King Shark (would you believe us if we told you it’s a humanoid shark?) and last but certainly not least, Polka-Dot Man.

For those who are unfamiliar with Polka-Dot Man,he  debuted in 1962’s Detective Comics No. 300. Abner Krill was a low-level crook who tried to make a name for himself with spot-themed crimes and a costume that included some amazing gimmicks, such as spots that transformed into buzzsaws and flying saucers on command. Gunn has shown an affinity for pretty obscure comic characters — this one has appeared less than a dozen times since his creation — and the character is said to lean into his embarrassment of his “lame” abilities.

Dastmalchian has been seen in other comic book TV shows and films such as GothamThe Flash as the villain Abra-kadabra and in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

Ant-Man And The Wasp Will Mainly Focus On Finding Hope’s Mother

antmanandwasp

Now after the events of the first Ant-Man movie and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) being able to go in and out of the quantum realm and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) being skeptical of the ability to traverse the unknown dimension after his wife Janet Van Dyne became lost in it. So it seemed only reasonable that the sequel primarily focuses on heading into that dimension to retrieve the long lost Van Dyne.

Entertainment Weekly was doing their annual Summer Movie Preview and Evangeline Lilly who will be reprising her role as Hope Van Dyne who will become The Wasp, spoke with them about her feelings on becoming the first female superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to see her name in the title of a film with Ant-Man and The Wasp. “It means a lot to me. If I’m honest with myself, I feel a lot of pressure to make sure that it is everything that the world wants it to be.” lilly then also offers some insight into Hope’s journey throughout the film, which she acknowledges will primarily be focused on finding and rescuing her mother from an uncertain fate. Lilly says, “Scott entered the Quantum Realm in the first film and came back, which is something they thought was impossible. The question has arisen, ‘Can Janet come back?’ So the entire film, my character is hell-bent on finding a way to get into the Quantum Realm and bring her back.

Hope’s mother will be played by the phenomenal Michelle Pfeiffer. Director Peyton Reed talks about how she was able to play catch with the world of superhero films being that her last involvement in the world was back in 1992 with her being the Catwoman in Batman Returns. “She hasn’t done one of these films since she played Catwoman with Tim Burton. It was really interesting to bring her in and get her up to speed on all the mythology and her place in this world.

I’m very excited for this film, then to add Laurence Fishburne, Walton Goggins and Hannah John-Kamen, Marvel may have another successful franchise within the MCU.

NewInfinityWarPoster

We are officially three out from the massive superhero team up known as Avengers Infinity War. Fans all over have been waiting with bated breath to see all of the potential partnerships that include Black Panther, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Spider Man the Guardians of the Galaxy and more.

Notably missing from all of the promo have been Ant-Man and the Wasp…as well as Hawkeye but we’re going to focus on Ant-Man and Wasp for this one. Now there has been speculation that the two size shifting heroes will not be part of the massive fight due to their film being released in July.

But has not stopped some dedicated fans from doing some sleuthing on their own and they think that have found the wise cracking, insect riding hero. Someone with the eyes of an hawk (no pun intended) seems to have found him hiding if you would on the infinity gauntlet.

It’s Here, the Ant-Man And The Wasp Trailer

Ant-Man_and_the_Wasp_logo

A day after the highly praised and positively received premiere of Marvel Studio’s Black Panther, Marvel is hitting everyone with a one-two combo with the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp.

It picks up following Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) after being broken out of the super max prison in Captain America:Civil War. Scott, talking to Hope Van Dyne (Evangaline Lilly) is questioming whether would she have been by his side during the epic Avenger battle royale in Berlin.

We find out both Hope and Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) are on the run from the authorities. Which leads us to believe they may have either helped break Lang and the other Avengers out with Captain America or they may have just been on the run knowing the authorities are looking for Scott.

Either way that action and incredible special effects revs up and that’s not from just the Ant-Man. The Wasp has some amazing and mind blowing shots. We see the use of the wings and even the blasters on the Wasp suit which prompts Lang to ask Pym, “You gave her wings…i guess you didn’t have the technology for me?” With Pym responding, “I did.”

Overloaded with action and fun this sequel is sure to raise the bar in which it’s predecessor set.

Check out the trailer for yourself and see Ant-Man and The Wasp when it hits theaters July of this year.

Ant-Man and The Wasp Add On Black Mirror Actress in Mystery Role

Don’t you just love it when you hear “mystery role”? Doesn’t it get you hopes and anticipation just fired up for a project? Well this one is definitely one of them.

According to Variety, Hannah John-Kamen (Black Mirror, Game of Thrones, Killjoys) will join Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and co. in Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp. Now her specific role as of now is being kept HEAVILY under wraps but Marvel is saying that it is a “key role”.

Apparently, Marvel had been meeting with actresses for this part for months before finally being “won over” by the 27-year-old Brit. Any ideas who she might be playing? Do you stick with just Ant-man villains or do you look further in the Marvel Universe.

Peyton Reed returns to helm Ant-Man and The Wasp from a script by Gabriel Ferrari. The movie is set for release on July 6, 2018.
