BIRDS OF PREY Adds Chris Messina As Victor Zsasz

Chris Messina - Birds of Prey Cast

Birds Of Prey (and the fantabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn) is still adding to an already stacked lineup. With Margot Robbie is reprising her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell a as Huntress and Black Canary respectively. Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, then add Ewan McGregor in the role of the villain Black Mask, the film is becoming a must see. Now there will be another recurring bad guy from DC Comics.

Regular of The Mindy Project,  Chris Messina is coming aboard as assassin Victor Zsasz. Zsasz has been featured on the big screen in Batman Begins and also seen on Gotham on Fox.

A bit of backstory on the character Victor Zsasz,  when Zsasz was 25, his parents died in a boating accident. This madman will more than likely be the right hand man to McGregor’s Black Mask will makes for a deadly combination.

Along with the Chris Messina, Warner Bros. Now of course when you at first see this you dont believe it to be a real thing but then the official Warner Bros. account followed it up with this tweet.

This title seems like it will possibly deal with Harley Quinn freeing herself of the Joker (portrayed by Jared Leto). What do you think about the title of the film?

Birds Of Prey Now Has Its Cassandra Cain

The cast of the upcoming Harley Quinn spinoff, Birds of Prey is rounding out its cast.  Newcomer Ella Jay Basco is in negotiations to land the last major role of Cassandra Cain.

A bit of backstory in DC Comics, Cain is the daughter of assassins David Cain and Lady Shiva, and is deprived of speech and human contact during her childhood as conditioning to become the world’s greatest assassin. She eventually befriends Bruce Wayne and goes on to become Batgirl. It is unknown whether the Batgirl element will be included in this storyline as WB is already developing a “Batgirl” movie.

Anticipation has been rising for the DC female team up film, Birds Of Prey. With the castings of Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Hit Jurnee Smolett (Black Canary) and Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya) joining Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn it was exciting to see where this film went next. Now we have that answer.

Ewan McGregor has been cast as the villainous Black Mask in the movie. The former Obi-wan Kenobi will now be one of Gotham City’s most powerful gangsters.

This exciting announcement comes on the heels of director Cathy Yan saying that the film will receive an R-rating.

Here is an excerpt from Cathy Tan speaking at the US-China Entertainment Summit at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.

“I did my homework. I wouldn’t say it was easy, but it was relatively painless and straightforward. I immediately loved the script and it felt like something I could really do, and it felt very much like my own voice. I could not put the script down, it had so much dark humor to it which a lot of my work does, and there are themes of female empowerment which are so strong and relateable.

So I went in with, not with confidence, but at least a sense that I belonged in the room, that somehow magically in terms of timing and luck that this opportunity was open to me and I was definitely going to make the best of it.”

Cassandra Cain who has yet to be cast is set to appear in the film as well. Birds of Prey hits theaters Feb 7,2020
