Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emanicipation of One Harley Quinn) has officially wrapped up its principal photography. The film from what we have been told is shaping up to be a very different movie to what most of us expected. First of which as via the title the film will primarily focus on Harley Quinn which is unlike the books and will not at all feature Barbara Gordon.
We now have just gotten a new logo for the film and this is showing part of how Warner Bros. is for sure hoping that this will be a big hit and Harley Quinn’s involvement is bound to generate a great deal of interest. Check out the new logo and let us know what you think.
Birds of Prey (and the fantabulous emacipation of one Harley Quinn) has seemingly officially gone into production. We were given a teaser that shows the cast in costume along with some first looks of Victor Zsasz, The Huntress, Black Canary and a few others.
Check out the teaser below.
Birds Of Prey (and the fantabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn) is still adding to an already stacked lineup. With Margot Robbie is reprising her Suicide Squad role as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Jurnee Smollett-Bell a as Huntress and Black Canary respectively. Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya, then add Ewan McGregor in the role of the villain Black Mask, the film is becoming a must see. Now there will be another recurring bad guy from DC Comics.
Regular of The Mindy Project, Chris Messina is coming aboard as assassin Victor Zsasz. Zsasz has been featured on the big screen in Batman Begins and also seen on Gotham on Fox.
A bit of backstory on the character Victor Zsasz, when Zsasz was 25, his parents died in a boating accident. Suddenly the head of an international company with a huge family fortune, Victor Zsasz ends up depressed and gambles his life away, losing everything to The Penguin. Left with seemingly nothing to live for, he decides to kill himself, but instead, chooses to kill a homeless man. The thrill of the kill creates a madman, and Victor starts slitting throats and posing them for those who stumble upon the crime scene. Every time he kills, he adds a tally to his body.
This madman will more than likely be the right hand man to McGregor’s Black Mask will makes for a deadly combination.
Along with the Chris Messina, Warner Bros. Pictures also announced the addition of Steven Williams (The Chi), Derek Wilson (Preacher), Dana Lee (Dr. Ken), Francois Chau (The Expanse, The Tick), and Matthew Willig (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) to the Birds of Prey cast. However, their characters have not been revealed at this time.
Birds of Prey is expected to hit theaters on February 7, 2020.
We now have the official title of the upcoming Birds Of Prey film has been revealed and it may not be what many may have expected. In an Instagram post by Harley Quinn herself, Margot Robbie, we got the full title from the cover of the script which is Birds Of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn).
Now of course when you at first see this you dont believe it to be a real thing but then the official Warner Bros. account followed it up with this tweet.
This title seems like it will possibly deal with Harley Quinn freeing herself of the Joker (portrayed by Jared Leto). What do you think about the title of the film?
The cast of the upcoming Harley Quinn spinoff, Birds of Prey is rounding out its cast. Newcomer Ella Jay Basco is in negotiations to land the last major role of Cassandra Cain.
In the new film, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) team up to protect Cain’s character when she comes across a diamond belonging to Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), a kingpin in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
A bit of backstory in DC Comics, Cain is the daughter of assassins David Cain and Lady Shiva, and is deprived of speech and human contact during her childhood as conditioning to become the world’s greatest assassin. She eventually befriends Bruce Wayne and goes on to become Batgirl. It is unknown whether the Batgirl element will be included in this storyline as WB is already developing a “Batgirl” movie.
“Birds of Prey” is set to bow on Feb. 7, 2020.
Anticipation has been rising for the DC female team up film, Birds Of Prey. With the castings of Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Huntress), Hit Jurnee Smolett (Black Canary) and Rosie Perez (Renee Montoya) joining Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn it was exciting to see where this film went next. Now we have that answer.
Ewan McGregor has been cast as the villainous Black Mask in the movie. The former Obi-wan Kenobi will now be one of Gotham City’s most powerful gangsters.
This exciting announcement comes on the heels of director Cathy Yan saying that the film will receive an R-rating.
Here is an excerpt from Cathy Tan speaking at the US-China Entertainment Summit at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
“I did my homework. I wouldn’t say it was easy, but it was relatively painless and straightforward. I immediately loved the script and it felt like something I could really do, and it felt very much like my own voice. I could not put the script down, it had so much dark humor to it which a lot of my work does, and there are themes of female empowerment which are so strong and relateable.
So I went in with, not with confidence, but at least a sense that I belonged in the room, that somehow magically in terms of timing and luck that this opportunity was open to me and I was definitely going to make the best of it.”
Cassandra Cain who has yet to be cast is set to appear in the film as well. Birds of Prey hits theaters Feb 7,2020
