BIRDS OF PREY Add Academy Award Nominee, Rosie Perez

After much speculation DC’s Birds of Prey movie now has its Renee Montoya in Academy Award nominee Rosie Perez.

It is being reported that Perez will join the ensemble cast that includes Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress and Jurnee Smolett-Bell as the Black Canary as the openly gay Gotham City detective.

Perez burst onto the scene with a powerful performance in Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing. She followed it with an amazing performance in White Men Can’t Jump and on to the movies Pineapple Express and Fearless for which she earned an Academy Award nomination.

The team up is expected to face the villain known as the Black Mask.

Birds of Prey is directed by Cathy Yan anfand is expected to hit theaters February 7,2020

‘Birds Of Prey’ Has Its Huntress And Black Canary

We are finally beginning to get the answers as to who will be portaying whom in the DC film Birds of Prey. Now along with Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn, we now have our Huntress and Black Canary.

Warner Bros has revealed that Mary Elizabeth Winstead, known for 10 Coverfield Lane and Fargo will take up the mantle of Helena Bertinelli  aka Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell of the show Underground will become the Black Canary. The role of Rene Montoya has yet to be decided, and it’s between One Day at a Time‘s Justina Machado and Vida‘s Roberta Colindrez. Montoya is a lesbian detective on the Gotham City police force who in some versions of the character done the identity “The Question”.

Both the Huntress and Black Canary have already been featured on the small screen. Huntress, on the CW’s Arrow has been played by Jessica De Gouw. Black Canary has been played by both Caity Lotz and Katie Cassidy on Arrow as well.

Birds of Prey will be directed by Cathy Yan and is set to hit theaters February 7,2020
