The CW’s hit show Black Lightning has been firing on all cylinders this season. One of the biggest storylines is the development of Jennifer Pierce (played by China-Anne McClain) with both her metahuman abilities and her relationship with Khalil aka PainKiller (played by Jordan Calloway). In the comics Jennifer is known as the superhero “Lightning” along with her sister “Thunder” Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams) and her father “Black Lightning” (Cress Williams). Many were wondering would Jennifer finally accept her role as a hero with the family and now we have our answer as we have our first look at Jennifer as LIGHTNING

The suit which looks like a hybrid or both the Black Lightning and Thunder costumes respectively.  It will be very nice to see the family of superheroes work together to help take down Tobias Whale (Marvin “Krondon” Jones III) and other bad guys in Freeland.

What are your thoughts on the new suit? Is It what you expecting? Leave Your thoughts.

BLACK LIGHTNING airs on a new night beginning  Monday, January 21, 2019 at 9:00PM.

RJ Cyler Joining Black Lightning in Recurring Role

RJ Cyler.jpg

Another amazing addition has come to the already all-star packed season season of the hit CW show Black Lightning. RJ Cyler (Sierra Burgess is a Loser, White Boy Rick, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Power Rangers) has been cast in a recurring role in the current second season.

He will play Todd Green, the gangly and awkward tech genius who’s passed over for a research grant.  He doesn’t take it well, until he gets an offer to join Tobias Whale (series star Marvin “Krondon” Jones III).

On television, he’s best known for his role in Jim Carrey’s I’m Dying Up Here and can next be seen starring in the latest installment of Scream.

This adds to, as mentioned earlier to a second season that has brought many amazing recurring stars and special guest stars. Stars that include, Bill Duke, Robert Townsend, Ericka Alexander, Angela Rye, Roland Martin.

Black Lightning airs Tuesday’s 9/8c on The CW.

The premiere of the second season of  Black Lightning is upon us and the new additions of recurring guests are shaping it up to be as dynamic as the first.

Legendary actor and director Robert Townsend, joins the cast as Dr. Napier Frank, a straightforward yet warm member of the Freeland school board and is a longtime ally of Jefferson Pierce.

In addition, the iconic Bill Duke comes aboard as Agent Percy Odell, a hardnosed and dedicated ASA government official.

Both are coming onnalong with the recent addition of Erika Alexander as Perenna, a metahuman who helps Jennifer Pierce comes to understand and gain comtrol of her powers.

Erika Alexander Joins The Cast Of BLACK LIGHTNING Season Two

perenna

Between the regular cast returning, the addition of Jordan Calloway as a series regular and the special guests this second season of Black Lightning is definitely going to be “LIT”.

Actress, writer, producer and activist Erika Alexander (Living Single, The Cosby Show, Get Out) has come aboard the sophomore season of Black Lightning  in a reoccurring role. he will play Perenna, a therapist with telepathic abilities who is trying to help Jennifer (series star China Anne McClain) acclimate to her manifesting powers and the emotions that go along with them. Alexander is currently slated to appear in three episodes.

For those who are a fan of the DC comics will know that this sounds like the character of “Looker” aka Emily “Lia” Briggs.  Now Emily was a mousy bank teller until she discovered that she was descended from a race of subterranean beings.  She gained the abilities of telepathy and telekinesis and she became more conventionally attractive.  Yes, you read that correctly one of her superpowers is hotness.  She later became a vampire.

The biggest difference between the description of “Perenna” and Looker is their age.  Perenna is clearly meant to be older, between 40-50.  Possibly they could be altering the character for the show which would not be new at all to the characters in the CW/DC universe.  Then there is always the possibility that this could be another telepath or even a brand new character.

Black Lightning returns Tuesday, October 9th on The CW

‘Major Crimes’ Alum Kearran Giovanni Added To Season Two of ‘Black Lightning’

Kearran Giovanni, better know as Amy Sykes from TNT’s Major Crimes  is now making the transition from the police force to the Lightning-verse. She has been added as a recurring cast member to the 2nd season of Black Lightning on The CW.

Giovanni will play Cutter, a smart, proud, tough and beautiful woman more than able to best a man in combat — a mercenary trained by British intelligence. How this plays into the emergence of more greenlight bred metahumans throughout Freeland and the return of Black Lightning (Cress Williams) remains to be seen.

Black Lightning returns Tuesday October 9th at 9/8pm CST on The Cw

Black Lightning Season 2 Poster Promises HIGH VOLTAGE ACTION

IMG_20180830_102203

The first poster to promote the second season of Black Lightning has dropped and it promises to deliver “High Voltage Action”.

Prominent in the poster is Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce aka Black Lightning along with his two daughters, Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams) aka Thunder and Jennifer Pierce (China Anne McClain) aka Lightning, his ex-wife Lynn Pierce (Christine Adams) and his rival Tobias Whale (Marvin Jones III aka ‘Krondon’).

Another interesting thing is that it seems as if Black Lightning has a new superhero uniform. It seems more streamline as opposed to season ones suit. Many however are still waiting to see if Jennifer will officially suit up at Lightning in the sophomore season.

Black Lightning returns to the CW on Tuesday October 9th.

Another OUTSIDER May Be Coming to Black Lightning Season Two

Season one of Black Lightning already electrified the world with its successful debut on the CW. It is only right that the anticipation for season two is just as high. One of great easter eggs that were featured in the first season is the potential arrival of The Outsiders.  The Outsiders are a group in the DC Comics were brought together by Batman and originally included,  Batman, Black Lightning, Metamorpho, Geo-Force, Katana, Halo and Looker. With the introduction of Project Greenlight as Grace Choi it seemed almost inevitable that the super hero crew in some sort of incarnation (without Batman of course) would be making their arrival to the CW.

Now that is seemingly becoming more of a reality. According to That Hashtag Show, who got hold of a character breakdown, the hero Looker will appear as “a recurring guest star.”

The show is reportedly looking to find a “Caucasian actress in her early 20s” to play the “youthful looking woman with a soul that has lived for a long time, whose eyes are ethereal and whose look is penetrating.” This breakdown doesn’t tell us if the metahuman will be friend or foe but it definitely seems as if the live action version like her comic book version will be a vampire.

Leave your thoughts on this potential addition to the second season of Black Lightning.

Is Lady Eve Coming back to Freeland?

Lady-Eve-Jill-Scott-Black-LIghtning

By back to Freeland, we mean is Jill Scott returning to the CW show Black Lightning.

Now if you watch the show you will remember that Scott’s character, Lady Eve was murdered in an attempt to frame the titular hero. But now thanks to the power of social media and Miss Jill Scott herself, what is seen and dead and gone may not actually be the case.

Check out the post from her Instagram feed

This leaves a lot of fans wondering is she coming back from the grave or maybe even in a flashback. But what we have learned is for certain characters death isn’t an absolute as seen by the gangster LaLa.

Tell us what you think. Are you excited to see her return and in what capacity would you like that to be?

Grammy Award Winning Artist Jill Scott is joining Black Lightning

Black Lightning is getting a little more soul. Grammy Award Winning Jill Scott is stepping into the role of Lady Eve for the new CW show Black Lightning . A new photo from the upcoming 3rd episode “Lawanda: The Book of Burial,” shows Scott having an interaction with Tobias Whale thanks to Entertainment Weekly.

Black-Lightning-Lady-Eve

A character description for Lady Eve has been given  “serves as a bridge between Tobias Whale (played by L.A. rapper Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III) and a secret group of corrupt leaders.”  Jones has also further elaborated saying “Lady Eve is the only person of authority over him. It means something to him, I think ultimately because it’s a woman. I think ultimately his affinity for Lady Eve has to do with the fact that she’s kind of a mother figure to him — but she’s not his mother.”

Now in case you were curious as to how does Lady Eve fit into the comics (aside the photo) here is a bit of back story. Lady Eve is a member of the international terrorist group the Kobra Cult, whose leader first appeared 1976 in Kobra #1. The group has made appearances over the decades on the animated series’ Batman BeyondBatman: The Brave and the BoldYoung Justice and Beware the Batman.

Jill Scott has been very impressive on both the big and small screen and her appearance and this looks to just add to her already extensive resume.

First We Got Lightning, Now We Have Thunder

NafessaWilliamsAsThunder.jpg

Thunder as in Anissa Pierce, the daughter of the CW’s Black Lightning, played by Nafessa Williams. Black Lightning is the newest hero to come into the CW’s Arrowverse. It stars Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce, a retired crime fighter who lives his life as a family man and high school principal until inner city gang The 100 begin to terrorize the citizens once again. Black Lightning has to suit back up once again and save the city. But this time he is not alone is his fight. His daughters join him as well.

Anissa and her sister Jennifer (played by China Anne McClain) they both develop their own abilities that they inherited from their father who is a metahuman.

This series is high up on the must watch for 2018 and we cannot wait for its debut.

Black Lightning debuts, Tuesday January 16th on The CW.
