Prepare to fly further, faster and higher now that the sequel to the blockbuster CAPTAIN MARVEL is a go. This time around for the sequel, the originals co-writers and directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will not return to helm the sequel or write it. A staff writer from the upcoming Disney + WANDAVISION, Megan McDonnell, is set to pen a script for a follow-up to the 2019 movie that starred Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson.
Full details about the plot have not yet been revealed but it has been noted that the superhero movie will go from the 1990s into present day.
The original CAPTAIN MARVEL had several writers at the helm including the co directors as well as Nicole Perlman, Meg LeFauve and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
McConnell is a relatively new writer with WandaVisionbeing her first major credit. The show brings back Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as Avengers heroes Wanda Maximoff and the Vision, respectively. The show, currently in production, also brings back CAPTAIN MARVEL kid character of Monica Rambeau, now an adult played by Teyonnah Parris. In the comics, Rambeau was an iteration of Captain Marvel.
Higher, faster, further at the box office is what can be best used to describe what Captain Marvelhas done. It has now become the seventh movie in the MCU to cross the one billion dollar mark as of last night. The movie has taken in $358.1 million in the US and $644.5 million overseas, bringing it just over the line with $1002.6
#CaptainMarvel has just shattered the $1,000,000,000 mark at the global #boxoffice last night. It is the 7th #Marvel film and 10th comic book movie to cross $1B. The #MCU has now grossed a stunning $18.5B across 21 films over 11 years for a super avg of $881M per title.
This is an impressive feat no matter how you look at it. With Avengers Endgame right around the corner it is likely to follow suit as well crossing that box office mark for Marvel Studios.

From Carol Danvers looking epic and badass to seeing a swarm of skrulls storm the shore we now have our first looks at the next Marvel Studios blockbuster Captain Marvel.
Yesterday, Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson sent out a tweet (yes a tweet) that sent waves and hype throughout the internet.
Hey @EW I’m bored. Wanna break the Internet tomorrow?
Many knew what to expect but were also hopeful to get something extra but nonetheless what we received DID NOT DISAPPOINT. Check out these EW exclusive first look photos.
Captain Marvel LOOKS AMAZING
A Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel led Kree squad with Djimon Hounsou as KORATH and Mar-Vell with Ronan waiting in the wing.
We have SKRULLS ON THE SHORE and they dont look half-bad
Jude Law as Mar-Vell standing next to Lee Pace reprising his role as Ronan The Accuser both in traditional Kree garb is amazing.
First and FOREMOST this may include spoilers for Avengers Infinity War so if you dont want those come back to this article after you have seen the movie. But if you are cool with it…….HERE……WE……GO….
Now after the events of Infinity War more so the post credit scene, we saw Nick Fury use a long distance pager (yup a souped up beeper) to contact someone. We see after the transmission sends that someone is indeed the symbol of Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel.
We have to wait into March to get the Captain Marvel film which is an origin story set in the 90s, where we are getting Academy Award winner Brie Larson taking on the role of Danvers an air force pilot who is bestowed extraordinary abilities when she encounters the Kree warrior known as Mar-Vell who will be played by Jude Law.
One of the most important things to note is that in this film we are getting a much younger Nick Fury, played by Samuel L Jackson. Yes not the bald, eye patch wearing,, goatee sporting, black turtleneck and trench coat take no nonsense but a much younger one and with a head full of hair. Also we find out that Jackson’s character connects with Danvers during the events of her first solo prior to him losing an eye. So that means we are getting a two-eyed Nick Fury and no eye patch throughout the movie.
The Nick Fury we’ve seen so far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a bald-headed man, rocking an eye patch and a goatee, clad in black trench coat and turtleneck. But the one we will see on March 8, 2019 will look totally different. Few months ago, Jackson revealed that the events of Carol Danvers’ first solo outing take place prior to the one where his character lost one of his eyes – so, he won’t be putting on an eye patch in the movie.
In the photos we see that Jackson has Mo-cap dots on his face which means they will be using CGI to make him Younger as they have done with Robert Downey Jr. and Kurt Russell.
In the set leaks, he’s spotted in front of a store along with Brie Larson, who is donning her superhero’s Kree armor. We dont know if this is the first time they encounter one another but can tell that something is going on. They appear to have an argument, with the aviator-turned-superhero trying a couple of times to do a bunk, but the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent getting in the way each time. One shot finds Captain Marvel shoving Nick Fury, apparently in an attempt to hide from someone. Check out the video and photos below (via Hollywood Pipeline.com)
also thanks to HollywoodPipeline.com photos of Larson and her stunt double running have become available.
The cast lineup of the upcoming Marvel Studios Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson is garnering more and more hype for the film. This announcement just keeps it going. Humans star Gemma Chan is set to play Minn-Erva in superhero movie. Now in the comics-verse, Minn-Erva (aka Doctor Minerva) is a Kree geneticist and spy.
The plot and even basic details are being kept quiet for the first female-led MCU superhero film. We do know that It will center on Carol Danvers (Larson), an Air Force pilot who has her DNA was fused with that of an alien during an accident, the resulting alteration imbued her with the superpowers of strength, energy projection and flight. now this will be interesting as well because Minn-Erva has similar powers to that of what Danvers obtains.
Other announced cast members of Captain Marvel include Jude Law, Samuel L Jackson, Dewanda Wise and Ben Mendelsohn who is said to be the lead villain. Captain Marvel is set in the 90s prior to all of the other MCU films. It is set to be released in theaters on March 8, 2019
First look photos are a good thing. Especially when its a first look at a superhero is their costume or uniform. This one her is no different as we now have our first looks at Brie Larson as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel.
Now there are those who at first may not understand what’s the deal the green suit and not the red, blue and gold one. Well the green suit pays homage to Mar-Vell the Kree warrior whom Larson’s character receives her powers from and his origin. There is also much speculation as to is this on the set of Captain Marvel or even Avengers 4. Well we think it may be Captain Marvel due to the newspaper and older car in the shot. Captain Marvel is going to be set in the 1990’s.
Captain Marvel’s cast lineup is getting more and more intense with each announcement. This is one that does not slow down that excitement.
Netflix and Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It star DeWanda Wise has found herself within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and landed a co-star role opposite Brie Larson in Captain Marvel. Wise is now added to a list of heavyweights in the film that include Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law and Ben Mendelsohn.
Wise takes on the role just as Netflix renewed for a second season She’s Gotta Have It, the series adaptation of Spike Lee’s breakthrough film about a woman, Nola Darling who isbalancing a life with three lovers. This is turning out to for sure be a Happy New Year for Dewanda Wise
Who are hoping that she is playing and how pumped up are you?
Update: it is confirmed Jude Law will be playing the role of Mar-Vell
By “LAW” we’re of course talking about the ONE AND ONLY, Jude Law. Variety has dropped some incredible news regarding the actor and Marvel Studios next project.
According to Variety, Jude Law is in negotiations to play the male lead opposite Brie Larson in Marvel’s “Captain Marvel,”.
We already know that Ben Mendelsohn has signed on to play the villain and the film will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Geneva Robertson-Dworet is cleaning up the script, which was originally written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman. What exactly Jude Law’s role will be is currently unknown. All that is known, is the character will be a mentor of sorts to Danvers as she tries to figure out her new powers – is he possibly playing Mar-Vell? We’d love to hear your thoughts, so let us know!
Captain Marvel is expected to hit the big screen on March 8, 2019
