The cast of the upcoming Harley Quinn spinoff, Birds of Prey is rounding out its cast.  Newcomer Ella Jay Basco is in negotiations to land the last major role of Cassandra Cain.

In the new film, Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) team up to protect Cain’s character when she comes across a diamond belonging to Black Mask (Ewan McGregor), a kingpin in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.

A bit of backstory in DC Comics, Cain is the daughter of assassins David Cain and Lady Shiva, and is deprived of speech and human contact during her childhood as conditioning to become the world’s greatest assassin. She eventually befriends Bruce Wayne and goes on to become Batgirl. It is unknown whether the Batgirl element will be included in this storyline as WB is already developing a “Batgirl” movie.

Birds of Prey” is set to bow on Feb. 7, 2020.

The ‘Birds Of Prey’ Now Have Their Bad Guy in Black Mask

It seems as if we may know who the bad guy will be for the upcoming Cathy Yan directed “Birds Of Prey” film. This go round we will possibly be getting the classic Batman villain, The Black Mask. This information is coming from The Wrap.

A possible plot for the film is that Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Black Canary, Huntress and others will come together to save Cassandra Cain from the clutches of a crime boss, and it now looks like said crime boss is going to be Roman Sionis aka Black Mask.

Another rumor that surfaced is that Cassandra’s father David would be the antagonist for this movie. Now how that plays into Black Mask is not yet known. But it is for sure that the classic villain will be making his way from video games and animated movies to a live action film.
