The CW is gearing up for what is arguably going to be the biggest crossover ever with its Arrowverse shows in CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS. The shows that are the foundation for this are ARROW, THE FLASH, SUPERGIRL DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW.

One show that is notably missing from the list is THE CW’s BLACK LIGHTNING. The show starring Cress Williams centered around Jefferson Pierce a former superhero turned high school principal who is brought back into the fight to save his hometown of Freeland and daughters as Black Lightning. He is also aided in his vigilante battle by his two superpowered daughters and his doctor wife. They all battle against the villainous Tobias Whale and other metahumans.

Many people were wondering whether or not the show would cross over into the arrowverse fold or would the titular hero even be part of the crossover and now we may have our answer.

In an article from FANDOMWIRE.COM is seems that is prettt much official that Black Lightning will be making an appearance in CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS.  Cress Williams seelingly has confirmed this via his twitter.

It is being stated that Black Lightning will not have a major role but his will be similar to that of Batwoman’s in last years, ELSEWORLDS.

Black Lightning Season 3 is set to air on October 21, 2019, and will see Cress Williams (Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning), China Anne McClain (Jennifer Pierce / Lightning), Nafessa Williams (Anissa Pierce / Thunder), and James Remar (Peter Gambi).

Are you excited for this potential blockbuster news and how do you hope for it to play out?

The first poster to promote the second season of Black Lightning has dropped and it promises to deliver “High Voltage Action”.

Prominent in the poster is Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce aka Black Lightning along with his two daughters, Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams) aka Thunder and Jennifer Pierce (China Anne McClain) aka Lightning, his ex-wife Lynn Pierce (Christine Adams) and his rival Tobias Whale (Marvin Jones III aka ‘Krondon’).

Another interesting thing is that it seems as if Black Lightning has a new superhero uniform. It seems more streamline as opposed to season ones suit. Many however are still waiting to see if Jennifer will officially suit up at Lightning in the sophomore season.

Black Lightning returns to the CW on Tuesday October 9th.

BLK101d_0100r

We are getting a hefty dose of new heroes for the new year and along with that more information about their arrivals (first episodes).  The CW has given us the breakdown for the inaugural episode of their newest hero Black Lightning which airs January 16, and with it they have also revealed a new title for the series opener – “The Resurrection!”

SERIES PREMIERE — Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) is a man wrestling with a secret. As the father of Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Ann McClain), and principal of a charter high school that also serves as a safe-haven for young people in a neighborhood overrun by gang violence, he is a hero in his community. Nine years ago, Pierce was a hero of a different sort. Gifted with the superhuman power to harness and control electricity, he used those powers to keep his hometown streets safe as the masked vigilante Black Lightning, but he left the Superhero days behind. Almost a decade later, Pierce’s crime-fighting days are long behind him…or so he thought. Christine Adams, James Remar, Damon Gupton and Marvin Jones III also star. The episode was written and directed by Salim Akil (#101). Original airdate 1/16/2018.

Here’s a First Look at The CW’s Black Lightning

unnamed

More like here is the first look of the upgraded Black Lightning.  Many people have been wondering what Cress Williams will look like after he dons the mask of the latest DC Comics hero to join the CW and it’s not bad at all.

black-lightning-first-look-image

If you’re unfamiliar, Black Lightning, aka Jefferson Pierce, was the first Black superhero to headline his own book at DC, after one of In the single worst ideas DC ever tossed around the bullpen was thankfully filed away. A gold medal Olympian and educator, he returned to Metropolis’ South Side (better known as Suicide Slum) with his family to run the local high school, and quickly discovers a need to beat up crooks at night. On the show, Lightning (played by Cress Williams) retired years ago, in part because he did more good during school hours than spending his nights punching gangsters, only to find his daughter is following in his footsteps. And if that weren’t enough, one of his students is being forcibly recruited by a gang, so out comes the power armor.

In theory, Pierce won’t be hanging out with Barry, Ollie, and the gang, but considering how often Kara pops in to say hi, we don’t expect that to last. Hopefully not her cousin though.  We’ll find out once the pilot is shot and the CW decides to take it to series.

‘Black Lightning’ has added its final lead to upcoming series

Allow me to say that the anticipation for this show is steadily climbing higher and higher. Joining Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce and Nafessa Williams and China Anne McLain as his daughters, Anissa and Jennifer, on The CW’s Black Lightning will be Christine Adams as the former superhero’s ex-wife, Lynn Stewart

Adams will probably be best known for playing Agent Weaver during the first two seasons of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but she’s also appeared in the likes of Batman Begins, Tron: Legacy, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Deadline describes this small-screen take on Lynn Stewart as a woman “who exudes confidence and intelligence. Although she’s got a mischievous side, she’s not one to be trifled with when it comes to family”.

Black Lightning will be written and produced by Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil, alongside Greg Berlanti. There’s no set premiere date just yet.
