BATGIRL Finds Its Lead In Leslie Grace

After having it come down to four actresses to see who will step into the role of the crime fighting, Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl. It seems one has won the contest and soon will be donning her own cape and cowl to fight crime in Gotham City.Leslie Grace, has been tapped to play Barbara Gordon in the Warner Bros and DC film, BATGIRL. It is reported that studio was already super high on Grace following her breakout role in IN THE HEIGHTS, and sources say her audition sealed the deal as the choice. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will direct the film from a script by Christina Hodson (who also wrote the BIRDS OF PREY film). Kristin Burr is set to produce.  

BATGIRL is set to arrive exclusively on the HBO Max streaming platform. This along with other titles such as BLUE BEETLE directed by Angel Manuel Soto along with the upcoming STATIC SHOCK film are set to be solely on. HBO Max. 

Now the plot of the film is still under wraps, it is known that Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, will be the character behind the cape in this version. Gordon is the most established version of the Batgirl character and was first introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane.

DOOM PATROL Renewed For Season 3 At HBO Max

DC’s group of doomed souls have not gone on their final wild adventure as of yet. DOOM PATROL has been renewed for a third season at HBO MAX.

“On behalf of the wonderful cast, writers and crew, we are thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to return to Doom Manor. And we are especially thankful for our partners at Berlanti Productions, Warner Bros. Television, DC Universe and, of course, HBO Max,” said executive producer Jeremy Carver.

The superhero series debuted on the DC Universe streaming platform for its inaugural season. Its sophomore season streamed on both the DC Universe and HBO MAX. Now it seems as if the superhero show is going to fully be an HBO MAX series going forward. 

“DOOM PATROL came to HBO Max with an already deep and passionate fan base and has risen to the top as one of the most watched Max Originals on the platform,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max. “The series sits well in our portfolio and we are glad to greenlight a third season to continue this distinctive style of storytelling that resonates so well with critics and fans alike.”

DOOM PATROL stars Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele, Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor aka Negative Man, Diane Guerrero as Jane aka Crazy Jane, April Bowlby as Rita Farr aka Elasti-Woman and Joivan Wade as Victor Stone aka Cyborg.

WESTWORLD’s Jeffrey Wright May Become THE BATMAN’s Commissioner Gordon

If you want to have someone who will be the police liaison and ally if you would to Robert Pattinson’s dark knight in THE BATMAN this here is a wonderful choice.

Jeffrey Wright (WESTWORLD) is in negotiations to join Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN as Jim Gordon.  At the time of this article being written nothing is official. The reason the title of Commissioner was not used with Gordon’s name is because it is not known yet what phase of his career will we see Gordon in. We know that the film will center around a younger Dark Knight but that does not give the stage of Gordon’s police career whether he is the Commissioner or if he is still a detective.

THE BATMAN is set to arrive in theaters on June 25, 2021

James Gunn Reveals THE SUICIDE SQUAD Cast

It seemed like nonstop we were either hearing new additions or rumors of addition to Warner Bros THE SUICIDE SQUAD written and directed by James Gunn. Well Gunn himself has offically revealed the cast of the upcoming sequel on Twitter.

The new additions include Alice Braga (QUEEN OF THE SOUTH,  I AM LEGEND), Joaquin Cosio (RAMBO), Mayling Ng (WONDER WOMAN), Juan Diego Botto (GOOD BEHAVIOR), Storm Reid (EUPHORIA, A WRINKLE IN TIME),Tinashe Kajese (COLD CASE), Julio Ruiz (CRIMINAL MINDS) and Jennifer Holland (BRIGHTBURN).

This also officially confirms Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson and Taika Waititi as members of the film.

THE SUICIDE SQUAD is set to hit theaters on August 6, 2021

A WRINKLE IN TIME Star Is Heading To the Squad

Storm Reid The Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad that is. Storm Reid from A WRINKLE IN TIME has signed on to join James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD. Now it is being reported that Reid is set to play Idris Elba’s daughter in the film. Elba, who was recently revealed to be portraying Brock Turner aka Bronze Tiger in the film will be part of the group of anti-heroes based on DC Comics characters.

The group includes returning cast members, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinneman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller along with newcomers Daniela Melchior, John Cena and David Dastmalchian.
