Remember back in December of 2017 when it was announced that Silver Sable and Black Cat would be teaming up for their own movie? They were set be brought together as an unlikely duo. But that ulitmately changed as it was decided to give the pair their own individual films. However nothing set in stone has been announced about that.
Well there may be a bit of sterling (as is Silver, get it?…) news about the pair. During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, original director Gina Prince-Bythewood was asked what she knows about the project and from what was told it seems as if there may be some rumblings leading the ladies towards Disney plus
“I really love that project, and I do hope it can still happen in some way. It keeps going through different thoughts. First, it was going to be the two of them, and then the decision was made to separate the two. Now, there’s a thought of “Hey, maybe we put it on Disney+ as a limited series,” but I loved it more as a film with the two of them. So, my hope is that one day it can still happen.”
Now here’s where it may get confusing for some. It is already known that Sony has laid out plans to bring many Spider-man related characters to the big screen. MORBIUS now being set to release in March of 2021, VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE in June of 2021, there’s even talks of a Kraven the Hunter film. Sony also has their own plan for their own Spider-verse that is not that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Which now leads to the even bigger conundrum. Marvel TV is now all under the control of Marvel Studios and why all of the upcoming MCU Disney plus shows are carrying on into the overall story. SILVER AND BLACK by that account would not fit in with the overall story and would throw things off.
So that leaves the question, if SILVER AND BLACK is brought to the small screen
Of the course the world as we know it has changed. Thanos’ snapped first got rid of then brought back half the uni…..oh that’s not what we’re talking about. Oh yeah due to the global pandemic caused by COVID-19 aka THE RONA. The movie release slate for 2020 has been drastically changed.
Many hoped at one point that Marvel Studios’ BLACK WIDOW would still be able to keep its original theatrical release date of May 1, 2020 even if that meant a straight to Disney Plus release. Well not only did the date get pushed back but there also will be no straight to Disney Plus release.
Well today Disney revealed an updated release schedule for the Scarlett Johannson led movie. It also shifts the rest of the upcoming MCU theatrical release slate.
BLACK WIDOW now will take THE ETERNALS release date of November 6, 2020 and THE ETERNALS now shifts to February 12, 2021. This also moves around SHANG-CHI and THE LEGEND OF THE TEN RINGS to May 7, 2021 as well as DOCTOR STRANGE INTO THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS on November 5, 2021.
This update slate also seemingly locks in 2022 as well for Marvel Studios, THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER goes to February 18, 2022, BLACK PANTHER 2, May 8, 2022 and CAPTAIN MARVEL 2 which originally did not have a release date is now set for a July 8, 2022 release.
Of course with the changes in these films theatrically you can bet your bottom dollar that the slate for the MCU Disney Plus series will also be altered given that they all now directly connecting to the films in a chronological order.
Even though it was extremely exciting to hear the Kamala Khan would be getting her on show on Disney + in MS MARVEL there has yet to be word as to who would be portraying the superhero.
But some very interesting and intriguing casting news seemingly hints that not only are we getting Khan but also a visitor in wait for it …an INHUMAN
According to The Illuminderdi, both Red Dagger and Kamran are currently being cast for the series. Kamran is specifically named as an Inhuman in the breakdown. Now everyone who remembers (and more than likely wants to forget) the failed ABC show INHUMANS and how it seemed that they would never be spoken of again. Well it seems now that Marvel Studios has the reins of all of the properties a reboot can be given a chance.
For those unfamiliar with Red Dagger, aka Kareem,in the comics he is a student from Khan’s neighborhood in Pakistan who operates as a costumed vigilante by night. It’s said that there will be “an undeniable romantic connection between him and Kamala” on the show.
Kamran, meanwhile, shares an Inhuman bond with Kamala and becomes her ally before ultimately betraying her. Now this may or may not happen within the show but he is described as being a “morally corrupt Inhuman” in the breakdown.
The breaking says that Marvel is currently searching for two actors in the 17 to 25-year-old age range to play these Muslim supporting characters.
Just when people were getting excited for the arrival of the GHOST RIDER series on Hulu, that excitement has to be quelled as now the series will no longer be moving forward. This was reported as an exclusive from Deadline.
Deadline is reporting that seemingly the reason for the series not going forward is creative differences between Hulu and the GHOST RIDER team.
Even though Gabriel Luna will not be reprising his role on Hulu as Robbie Reyes, MARVEL’S HELSTROM is on track as well as four connected animated series. MARVEL’S M.O.D.O.K, MARVEL’S HIT-MONKEY, MARVEL’S TIGRA AND DAZZLER SHOW and MARVEL’S HOWARD THE DUCK, set to roll out in 2020, culminating in a special event, MARVEL’s THE OFFENDERS.
It is not yet known if the series will shopped elsewhere but there has been rumors that Marvel Studios is interested in bringing a Ghost Rider show to the Disney plus streaming site.
Marvel Studios is still amping up its star-studded roster and this latest addition proves that. VARIETY is reporting that Hailee Steinfeld is currently in talks to star in the upcoming Disney Plus series, HAWKEYE.
If this becomes official Steinfeld will join Jeremy Renner who reprises his role as Hawkeye aka Clint Barton, the now and arrow using Avenger and Steinfeld would play the role of Kate Bishop, his daughter. In the comics Kate Bishop eventually takes up the mantle in which her father held and joins the team of the Young Avengers.
Knowing how Disney and Marvel studios like to fully invest in their stars this more than likely would not be a one-off series for Steinfeld. Starring in the series would likely represent a long-term relationship with Marvel studios and it is reasonable to assume that the Bishop character would eventually spin off into either her own standalone series or even appear in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
From incredibly smashing to professor & cool in AVENGERS; ENDGAME we all at one point or another enjoyed the various phases of the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Well now we getting more green in the universe as it was just announced at the D23 Expo that Hulk’s cousin SHE HULK will be getting her own live action series on the upcoming Disney Plus streaming platform from Marvel Studios.
In the comics, She-Hulk, or Jennifer Walters, is the cousin of Bruce Banner, whose superhuman powers transferred to her when she received a transfusion of Banner’s blood. She is also a lawyer who still practices law all while being a superhero.
This series can open up the door for some hilarious interactions with the gamma radiated cousins.
CAPTAIN MARVEL was a blockbuster success for Marvel Studios and now the superhero production studio is focusing on another marvelous hero.
Marvel is ,according to The Hollywood Reporter, developing a live-action series for the Disney+ streaming platform and will be based on its acclaimed comic MS. MARVEL, hiring writer Bisha K. Ali to write and act as showrunner. Ali is a comedian who is currently a staff writer on Hulu’s remake of FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL.
There is the possibility that the official announcement could be made during the Friday presentation at the D23 Expo currently happening in Anaheim.
Now for those who may be unfamiliar with the character, Ms. Marvel has been around since 1976, with the character Carol Danvers using the name for her crime-fighting escapades.
The latest version which many have gravitated to and wanted to see done as a live action series or film, is a teenager named Kamela Khan. Who’s identity as a Pakistani American, living in a religious family in New Jersey all while trying to find her own way, have been a major focus of the stories. Her powers have been described as polymorphous, meaning she has the ability to stretch and change her shape.
Currently there is no timetable set for the show and it unclear whether the show will fit into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe as Marvel is developing several other shows for the streamer that will be tied to the overall film universe. These include THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER, to debut in late 2020; WANDAVISION, to debut in spring 2021; LOKI, also for early 2021; and HAWKEYE, for late 2021.
