Looks Like The DOCTOR DOOM Movie Will Not Happen

doctor-doom.jpg

LEGION on FX ended last night and while many were upset to see the brilliant show by Noah Hawley go away there was still a bit of hope he would stay around the marvel world with his DOCTOR DOOM movie script. The film which was said to be a unique take on the origin story of the super villain and not have any involvement of the Fantastic Four had many excited to see what Hawley would bring.

Unfortunately it seems that the excited which has been built up now must be cast to the side as Hawley in a recent interview revealed that the movie is “done” and that he has no idea whether Marvel Studios is interested in moving forward with his take on the ruler of Latveria.

“I mean, where it stands is now that the movie is done and Legion is done and I’ve taken a little time off because someone told me there was this word “vacation,” which means you don’t work, which sounded really interesting to me. But you know, I need to circle back to them and announce that I would love to make it and figure out if that’s something that is possible. Whether or not they already have a plan in place for what to do with those characters or whether they’re open to my kind of vision for what to do with those characters. But it’s sort of on me right now to go push them, which I will do as soon as I come up for air.”

Well that is a sad thing to here because we can be pretty much certain that Marvel studios big boss, Kevin Feige has no plans for a Victor Von Doom solo movie heading into phase 5 of the MCU and with the Fantastic Four set to make their arrival soon its a sure bet a solo movie based around their nemesis would be a focus. Not to mention Doom may not be big enough of a threat to carry over on a major level the way in which we saw Thanos.

Of course, this doesn’t completely remove a chance that Hawley ends up doing something in the MCU, but just like that MULTIPLE MAN movie and the mysterious Kitty Pryde project, it seems Doctor Doom solo outing will not happen.

Fox Is Working On A ‘Silver Surfer’ Spinoff Film And Putting A Rush On It

silversurfer.jpg

Since the announcement of the potential  20th Century Fox-Disney merger, many people have been waiting with bated breath to see many popular Marvel characters such as the X-men and the Fantastic Four join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even with deal in the works Fox is still kicking out projects for the properties it owns. Deadpool 2 arrives in March, X-Men:Dark Phoenix in December and The New Mutants which has been pushed back to next year.  But that does not mean that Fox is slowing down by any means in trying to push out more films before the acquisition is complete.

According to   The Hollywood Reporter solo movies for both Doctor Doom and the Silver Surfer are in the works, with the Silver Surfer being written by Brian K. Vaughn of Saga and Runaways fame Here is the thing, the studio is in a rush to get these out and is reportedly moving at “100 miles per hour” to get complete.

“It does not affect this project in any way, shape or form is what I was told,” Brian Michael Bendis tells the trade after signing up to work on a Kitty Pryde movie with Deadpool director Tim Miller. “At least at the moment, it’s certainly decisions over my pay-grade if it ends up doing so.”
It’s “business as usual” at Fox according to one  insider, “We actually have way more in development and production in Marvel IP than at any point in the history of the studio. There’s been zero slowdown on that front given Disney.”
It is going to be extremely interesting to see what if any of these properties see the light of day with Fox and what may or may not hit the big screen by 2019.

Fox is for some reason developing a Doctor Doom movie

WHY???? Just WHY is this even going to happen. Well you know what let me go back and try to be as objective as possible. At a Producer’s panel for The FX show Legion at Comic-con in San Diego, its showrunner Noah Hawley just officially announced that he is developing a Doctor Doom movie for 20th Century Fox.

Hawley said during the panel, “I’m developing a film for Fox and I’ll just say two words, Doctor, Doom.”

This has caught many Marvel fans COMPLETELY OFF GUARD. Doctor Doom being one of Marvel’s most iconic villains has not been done justice in theaters. He has been featured in all three  of 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four films the 2005, 2007 (Rise of the Silver Surfer) and the 2015 reboot,  but he has not possessed both the true genius and menace that fans have come to know.

We want to know what do you all the readers think of this? Is it a good idea to do a Doctor Doom solo film or should he be included in the next reboot that is being talked about for the Fantastic Four.
