Up-and-coming Portuguese actress/model newcomer Daniela Melchioris is set to take on the role of Ratcatcher, as a new recruit in James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD. The character, has the ability to telepathically communicate with and control rats and was originally introduced as a Batman villain in the late ’80s.
It is worth noting that this take on Ratcatcher will have a connection to Idris Elba’s mysterious character, which seemingly confirms that the star was originally set to replace Will Smith as Deadshot after all. As she will be a surrogate daughter to Deadshot.
For people who are unfamiliar with Ratcatcher, in the comics Ratcatcher was a man named Otis Flannegan but the role is going to be gender-switched for the movie. In a breakdown for the character, she is described as “an exterminator in Gotham City that turns to a life of crime aided by an army of small rodents that she can communicate with and control. She is also a fan of poisonous gas.”
The incredible character actor known for his work in both Marvel Studios films Ant-Man and Ant-Man & The Wasp is heading back over into the DC film franchise.
David Dastmalchian has closed his deal to become one of the stars of The Suicide Squad directed by James Gunn and it is being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that he will be portraying the villain known as the Polka-Dot Man
Dastmalchian will now join Margot Robbie, who is returning as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney, back as Captain Boomerang, and Idris Elba, it is yet to be disclosed who he will be portraying.
james Gunn who is also the director for Marvel Studios Guardians Of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is writing and directing The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros. As far as the plot of the film goes, what is known about The Suicide Squad follows David Ayer’s 2016 film Suicide Squad, but rather than a straight sequel, this is described as a new take on the property from the mind of Gunn that will feature a mix of new and old characters.
Plot details are being kept secret but the new characters include DC villains such as Ratcatcher (she controls rats), Peacemaker (he loves peace so much he will kill for it), King Shark (would you believe us if we told you it’s a humanoid shark?) and last but certainly not least, Polka-Dot Man.
For those who are unfamiliar with Polka-Dot Man,he debuted in 1962’s Detective Comics No. 300. Abner Krill was a low-level crook who tried to make a name for himself with spot-themed crimes and a costume that included some amazing gimmicks, such as spots that transformed into buzzsaws and flying saucers on command. Gunn has shown an affinity for pretty obscure comic characters — this one has appeared less than a dozen times since his creation — and the character is said to lean into his embarrassment of his “lame” abilities.
Dastmalchian has been seen in other comic book TV shows and films such as Gotham, The Flash as the villain Abra-kadabra and in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.
I guess we can see him because we might see the former 16-time wrestling champion join the worst heroes ever.
It is being reported by Variety that John Cena (Bumblebee, Trainwreck) is currently in talks with Warner Bros to The Suicide Squad written and direcred by James Gunn.
If the deal goes through, Cena will be joining Margot Robbie who will be reprising her role as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Joel Kinneman as Rick Flagg and Idris Elba in a yet undisclosed role.
The Suicide Squad is slated to hit theaters August 6,2021.
Many people thought this was never going to happen and that we would just have to look towards the future with James Gunn and The Suicide Squad. But now it seems as if we have two major team ups coming from Gunn as Disney has reinstated him as the director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Deadline is reporting that Walt Disney Studios president Alan Horn met with Gunn multiple times to discuss the situation in its entirety and was persuaded by both Gunn’s public apology and the way in which he handled the situation after which ultimately led to his reverse course and being reinstated.
More setbacks are seemingly the best way to describe the production of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. This time it is being reported production may not begin on the third ensemble film until February 2021.
We already know that there has been some issue attempting to find a director since the firing of it’s original director James Gunn, even though Gunn’s original script will still be used. But with the production delay we may not see the crew aboard the Milano until 2022.
Another quick note is that there seems to be a working title. It was revealed that the working title is “Hot Christmas”. So it seems the guardians may be bringing Holiday Cheer.
When the news was released that former Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn may be both writing and directing Suicide Squad 2 the internet has been full ablaze.
But one of the shocking responses have been from one of the Guardians himself. Dave Bautista who has been EXTREMELY vocal about his displeasure of the firing of James Gunn by Disney. He has said at time that he basically did not want to be involved with the production of Guardians 3 without James Gunn.
We has once again fanned the flames by offering up his thoughts on Gunn going to DC films.
Now in order for this to play out his character, Drax’s death would have to stick after the events of Avengers:Infinity War and as we head into Avengers 4.

How to do potentially successfully pull off a sequel with a group of villainous misfits who have to work together for good> You first start off with an incredible script and you get that by hiring a writer who knows how to pen a great one and has a track record for doing so.
Well thats what Warner Bros. have captured in former Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn. Gunn is being hired by Warner Bros and DC to write and possibly direct Suicide Squad 2. This will be the first job he’s taken since he parted ways with Disney which let him go from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in July after old controversial tweets resurfaced.
This is a major move for DC and Warner Bros
In a move that pretty sure would never upset anyone, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 & Vol 2 director James Gunn has said that he will help to oversee the Marvel Cosmic Universe after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Back in April , he first brought up that he would return to helm Guardians Vol 3. Now he has told to IGN that he will not only be at the helm of Vol. 3, but he will also work with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to help oversee the future of the entire Cosmic Universe wing of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the post-Avengers: Infinity War phase of the MCU.
“We talk about it all the time,” Gunn said of his role in the overall Marvel Cosmic Universe. “It’s already a part of what I’m doing with Marvel and the conversations that Kevin and I have every day. When we’re talking about ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 3,’ and that story, that’s a story that will lead to other stories. It’s innate to the DNA that that’s the end of a trilogy but it’s the beginning of a whole other element of the Marvel Cosmic universe. That’s a part of what I’m doing now.”
Gunn had previously stated that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will take place years after Vol. 2 and will conclude the story of this iteration of the Guardians, and serve as a launching pad for new Marvel characters that will permeate the MCU for years afterwards.
This is some amazing information after hearing that the MCU can and will span into different individual universes being the aforementioned Marvel Cosmic Universe and the Marvel Quantum Universe.
We had been hounding and pressuring James Gunn as to when the world would see some footage for the upcoming sequel of the HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SEQUEL to Guardians of the Galaxy.
