Filming is well underway in London on the Spider-Man spinoff film Morbius starring Jared Leto as Morbius, the Living Vampire. Over the weekend while filming in the United Kingdom a set photo came out that has a nod or Easter Egg to a very popular Spider-man Villain.
As you can see YES that is Kraven pastries on the side of the truck and can possibly be referencing Kraven the Hunter.
Now just looking at this it does not GUARANTEE that the legendary lion mane draped hunter will be appearing in the spin-off film however it could be connecting to what is going forward. In case you did not know Sony is currently developing a solo Kraven the Hunter movie as well. There is a screenwriter attached in Richard Wenk who wrote The Equalizer 2.
Aside from being a hunter in the comics Sergei Kravinoff is also a man of wealth and means and this could be one of many business ventures. Also given that Michael Morbius’ story is based around him being a biochemist who transforms himself into a living vampire this may also some how tie into the serum being developed that gives Kravinoff his enhanced skills and abilities.
It seems as if Fast and Furious star Tyrese Gibson is heading into Sony’s spin-off Spider-verse. He is currently in talks to join Jared Leto in the upcoming Morbius movie.
Details as to whom Gibson will be portraying are currently undisclosed but the Daniel Espinosa directed film is seemingly getting more star power having just recent added actor Jared Harris to the cast.
The Sony spider-man spinoff verse is stepping up its casting game, Jared Harris Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows has joined Jared Leto in the upcoming MORBIUS movie. His role is being kept under wraps for the time being.
Harris will join Jared Leto who plays renowned biochemist Michael Morbius, who becomes a vampiric antihero after injecting himself with a serum derived from bats in an attempt to cure a rare blood disease.
It seems as if Warner Bros has decided to clear up some of the proverbial clutter within the DC film universe. They are doing this by reportedly scrapping all of the projects involving Jared Leto’s version of the Joker.
This is according to a Forbes article. It seems that Leto’s Joker film has “fallen by the wayside” along with the “Mad Love-type Joker and Harley Quinn film.” Suicide Squad, itself, will reportedly move forward with a sort of “soft reboot,” and Forbes reports Margot Robbie’s Harley is not expected to return for the sequel.
“The Suicide Squad sequel…is expected to have a new cast of characters and avoid direct tie-in to the first film’s events,” Forbes reports. “Harley Quinn is not expected to return, and James Gunn’s script will be a new approach and rethinking of the property.”
News broke last year that Jared Leto’s Joker would be getting a solo film with him producing the project as well. Then it was followed by the announcement that DC would be a different revision with Joaquin Phoenix portraying the clown prince of crime and directed by Todd Phillips.
What are your thoughts are you sad to see the Grand Theft Auto version of the caped crusaders greatest villain go? Would you have loved to see him in more films.
Sony’s Spider-verse is adding more star power to its slate of upcoming films. It is being reported by Variety that Primetime Emmy nominee actor Matt Smith Doctor Who, The Crown, and Terminator Genisys; and he can be seen later this year in Disney/Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Episode IX, where he reportedly has a key role has entered final negotiations with Sony Pictures to join their upcoming Spider-Man universe spinoff, Morbius, which stars Academy Award-winner Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius who turns himself into a living vampire.
As for now the details on his role are being kept under wraps, but the report does describe it as major, which more than likely means he could be playing the primary antagonist. But nothing can fully be confirmed until the studio releases the official news.
In addition to Leto and Smith, so far castign announcements include Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim Uprising) who will also star in a key role. Daniel Espinosa (Safe House; Life) is helming the project with a script from Lost in Space creators Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.
With the way everything else is happening in the DCEU this clearly seemed like the next step right? Well nonetheless The Joker from Suicide Squad will be getting his own film.
Warner Bros is looking to make a standalone of this version of the character that debuted in the 2016 Suicide Squad film. This film is set to have Jared Leto who portrayed the role to star and exec produce an untitled standalone film. This is set to pave the way for more future movies branching from off from Suicide Squad.
There currently is not a plot or any details for the film but the belief is that Warner Bros wants to further expand on the “Suicide Squad” world with the different properties that lie within. It has already been announced that Margot Robbie’who portrayed Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad is getting her own film with Birds of Prey.
Now this adds on to the “Joker” film catalog. As an origin film is on the way from Todd Phillips. Now this film is not set to be included within the current DCEU and the reason is to allow multiple actors as well as versions of characters to exist without any overlap. In that version Joaquin Phoenix has been tapped to play the clown prince of crime.
Let us know your thoughts on this. Are you excited? Are you looking forward to seeing a more expanded version than what we saw in the Suicide Squad film?
