HAWKEYE On Disney Plus Enlists TROOP ZERO And COMRADE DETECTIVE Directors

The Jeremy Renner series is filling its quiver with helmers.

The upcoming Disney Plus series HAWKEYE starring Jeremy Renner has got itself its first group of directors. Bert and Bertie, the collective name for Amber Finlayson (Bert) and Katie Ellwood (Bertie) known Amazon’s TROOP ZERO have been tapped to captain a block of episodes of the Marvel Studios series . Along with the pair another director will get a string for a block,  Rhys Thomas, who has also directed  Amazon’s COMRADE DETECTIVE, STATEN ISLAND SUMMER and SNL. Jonathan Igla (MAD MEN, PITCH) is writing the series.

HAWKEYE is part of the first wave of Marvel shows that was due to hit Disney+ starting in fall 2020. The first show was to have been THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIERbut the series has been delayed to the coronavirus pandemic affecting production. Other shows include WANDAVISION(spring 2021, if things go as planned), LOKI (also spring 2021), then HAWKEYE . Each series will see the stars of their MCU films reprising their respective roles.

Jeremy Renner, who played the role in the big-screen films, will be reprising Clint Barton, who first made his comic debut back in 1964’s Tales of Suspense #57. One of the arcs of the series is Barton’s mentoring of a new generation of archer, Kate Bishop. Hailee Steinfeld was previously in negotiations for the part but it is unclear if her deal has closed. Marvel had no comment.

Hailee Steinfeld Being Eyed To Star In HAWKEYE Disney Plus Series

Hailee Steinfeld

Marvel Studios is still amping up its star-studded roster and this latest addition proves that. VARIETY is reporting that Hailee Steinfeld is currently in talks to star in the upcoming Disney Plus series, HAWKEYE.

If this becomes official Steinfeld will join Jeremy Renner who reprises his role as Hawkeye aka Clint Barton, the now and arrow using Avenger and Steinfeld would play the role of Kate Bishop, his daughter. In the comics Kate Bishop eventually takes up the mantle in which her father held and joins the team of the Young Avengers.

Knowing how Disney and Marvel studios like to fully invest in their stars this more than likely would not be a one-off series for Steinfeld. Starring in the series would likely represent a long-term relationship with Marvel studios and it is reasonable to assume that the Bishop character would eventually spin off into either her own standalone series or even appear in the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now you can add the master archer to the list of Avengers who will be getting their own series on the upcoming Disney+ streaming platform.

A Hawkeye series starring Jeremy Renner is now in the works. The series is described as an adventure series in which archery master Clint Barton, a.k.a. Hawkeye, will pass the torch to Kate Bishop, a member of the group known as the Young Avengers, and first female to take the Hawkeye name after Clint Barton.

Kate is also Barton’s daughter and many believe her to be the young girl we see in the Avengers Endgame trailer practicing with Clint.

Other series that have been announced so far are Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olson) as well as Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).

Spawn Reboot Grabs ‘Avengers’ Hawkeye For Twitch Williams

Another big announcement has come to the reboot of the Todd MacFarlane directed Spawn film. At first it was just rumored now it is official, Jeremy Renner will be joining Jamie Foxx as Twitch Williams.

Renner will be teaming up with Spawn (Foxx) to track down the killer of his characters daughter. When Todd MacFarlane was asked his thoughts on having Renner join the cast here is what he said,

“As a first time director, I wanted to surround myself with the most talent and the most skilled people I can on all fronts. I was lucky enough to land Jason Blum and then Jamie Foxx, and I knew the person on screen the most is this police officer, Twitch Williams. We needed as strong a person as possible because he will be the face of the film.

I took my naïve Hollywood approach again, and said let’s start at the top and work down. Jeremy was at the top. I’m a huge fan of his. The character doesn’t need to be a bodybuilder or GQ handsome. I was looking for somebody who’s a person you’ve met before; I needed someone who can pull off the grief of an average human being. I’ve seen Jeremy do that in more than a few of his movies. He was at the top of my list, just like Jamie.”

Now Jeremy Renner is a great choice and addition to the film but expect there to be some curiosity raised due to the fact that Renner’s character is set to be the main focus of the film and Spawn himself a background character.
