We Have our First Look of Domino in Deadpool 2

deadpool_3.jpg

Well this is one of the two highly anticipated first looks from the currently in production Deadpool 2 film. This one for sure does not disappoint.

We now have our first look at Zazie Beetz as Domino which was revealed that us by Deadpool himself Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds revealed the first photo of Beetz as Domino via Twitter. The photo recreates one of the famous early promotional images from the first Deadpool movie, which had Reynolds in his Deadpool costumes splayed on a fur rug in front of a fire.

Zazie Beetz is best known for her role on FX’s Atlanta. According to the many rumors that circulated concerning the highly sought after role, Beetz beat out stiff competition that included Janelle Monae, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Lizzy Caplan.

Domino is another creation of Rob Liefeld, who created Deadpool and Cable. Domino is a mercenary with the mutant gift to subconsciously manipulate probabilities in her favor within a localized field, which manifests roughly as her having very good luck.

Domino has a professional and romantic history in the Marvel Comics universe with Cable, who will be played by Josh Brolin in Deadpool 2. She was also a founding member of Cable’s paramilitary mutant squad X-Force.

Interestingly, Domino made her first appearances in New Mutants #98, the same issue that featured the first appearance of Deadpool. However, it was later revealed that the shapeshifting mutant Copycat, the character that Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa is inspired by, was actually posing as Domino. The real Domino didn’t debut until X-Force #8 months later. It’s unclear if Deadpool 2will address this storyline.

David Leitch (John Wick) will direct the sequel, taking over for original Deadpool director Tim Miller.

Ryan Reynolds will return as Wade Wilson, a.k.a. Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth. For the sequel, he’ll be joined by Josh Brolin as Cable. Cable was co-created by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld and Louise Simonson. He has often been paired with Deadpool as his grim, serious demeanor serves as the perfect foil to Deadpool’s crude and zany humor. The duo headlined an ongoing comic book series, Cable & Deadpool, for 50 issues.

Josh Brolin Is Transforming Into Cable For Deadpool 2

With production currently under way in Vancouver, we’ve already seen a handful of Deadpool 2 set photos, including one today that introduced new cast member Julian Dennison. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet seen what Josh Brolin looks like as the iconic Cable, but the actor recently revealed a behind-the-scenes photo from the makeup chair, teasing his Cable transformation. It’s possible that we could be getting closer and closer to seeing Josh Brolin in full costume as Cable. Until then, take a look at what the actor had to say about the makeup process.

“Insanity on the brink. Face is morphing into something machine, fierce, hair sliced, arm machined, bulged. Where is Deadpool?!? Looking. Looking. All I got are these two…molding me, prodding, turning me into something hard. @bcorso #mikesmithson #deadpool #ivebeencabled #cableswole @weprevail”

This photo from Josh Brolin’s Instagram comes just a few weeks after he posted another photo teasing Cable’s new look, although he wasn’t in full costume, and fans only got to see what his new hair style looked like. Still, we seem to be inching closer and closer to a full Cable reveal. It isn’t clear if Josh Brolin has already started filming, or if they are still finalizing the makeup process for Cable. Given how iconic this character is, with Deadpool himself revealing that Cable will be in the sequel during the Deadpool post-credit scene, it’s easy to see why they want to get his look just right. We have also seen glimpses of the actor’s Cable training, so hopefully the actor continues sharing photos and videos once he’s actually on the set and in costume as Cable.

While there still isn’t much that has been confirmed about the story, T.J. Miller hinted that there has been talk of his character Weasel and Dopinder, the cab driver from the first movie played by Karan Soni, teaming up on a mission of some sort. The actor admitted that he wasn’t sure if this mission will even be filmed or stay in the movie, but he said this particular storyline made him laugh. Both Weasel and Dopinder were close allies of Deadpool in the first movie, but they never crossed paths themselves, which could make for some interesting story developments.

The original Deadpool made box office history last year, breaking the records for highest opening weekend for an R-rated movie ($132.4 million), and highest worldwide gross for an R-rated movie ($783.4 million), although it came just short of the domestic R-rated mark of $370.7 million, held by The Passion of the Christ. Deadpool 2 has been given a June 1, 2018 release date, which is currently the only movie set for release on that date. Take a look at the latest photo from the Deadpool 2 set, featuring Josh Brolin’s Cable transformation.

Thanos is also Cable

Well we officially have a Cable and well he’s also the major bad guy for the Avengers.

In an exclusive from the Hollywood Reporter  Josh Brolin has nabbed the hotly contested role of Cable opposite Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool 2, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The production has been on the warpath to find the right actor for the role for months, with Michael Shannon almost nabbing the role and Stranger Things star David Harbour on the shortlist. (There were even rumors of conversations with Russell Crowe and Brad Pitt.)

In the end, Brolin emerged as a surprise contender, notching his second Marvel Comics character in the process; the actor plays the villain Thanos in the Marvel Studios movies. Sources say Brolin’s deal is for four movies.

David Leitch is directing the sequel to Fox’s surprise blockbuster, with the Twentieth Century Fox movie heading towards a June production start in Vancouver.

Reynolds is reprising his role as the wisecracking mercenary, with the story expanding to include other characters from Deadpool’s corner of Marvel’s X-Men universe.

Atlanta breakout Zazie Beetz has already been cast as the super-powered merc named Domino.

Cable, was co-created by Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld and writer Louise Simonson, and is described as in many ways being the opposite of Deadpool: a man who is a leader and used to being obeyed, who is very controlled but with an aura of simmering violence. In the comics, Cable was from the future and was the adult of Scott Summers, also known as the X-Man Cyclops.

Brolin, who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in 2009’s Milk, has been on a busy streak with a lot of his work culmination this fall. He is part of the ensemble cast of Granite Mountain, Joseph Kosinski’s firefighting adventure that opens Sept. 22 and also stars with Benicio del Toro in Soldado, the sequel to Sicario. He also appears in George Clooney’s ensemble Suburbicon, which opens Nov. 3, and stars in the drama The Legacy of the Whitetail Deer Hunter that opens Dec 25.

Infinity War may be adding The Collector

This all star cast is loading up with more and more talent by the day

Marvel Studios is looking for Avengers: Infinity War and the subsequent followup Untitled Avengers to work as a closing for Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With 18 films due to be out by the time Infinity War rolls around, there is no shortage of characters at the disposal of directors Joe and Anthony Russo. They’ve already showed an ability to manage a large number of characters in Captain America: Civil War, but Infinity War will be a test on an entirely different level.

Not only will the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and other solo heroes be involved in the fight against Thanos, but secondary MCU characters from movies past have also been linked to Infinity War. While many may still be waiting for TV characters to crossover as well, one more cosmic entity may have just been confirmed to appear.

MCU Exchange is reporting that Josh Brolin posted (and has since deleted) an Instagram video discussing what scenes he will be shooting next for Infinity War and among the cast members he listed to be working with was Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), and the surprising reveal of Benicio Del Toro, who plays Taneleer Tivan aka The Collector. Del Toro made is debut as the character in the post-credit scene of Thor: The Dark World and later appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, but no further appearances had been confirmed until now. To make this report even more believable, Del Toro was recently spotted in Atlanta – where Marvel is currently filming Infinity War.

With so many other characters set to appear, it is none too surprising that The Collector will also be making an appearance in the film. After all, he does still have the Aether (the Reality Stone) and Thanos will have to retrieve this artifact in order to completely power the Infinity Gauntlet. What is interesting however, is that the scene mentioned by Brolin also involves Gamora and Star-Lord. Neither Thanos nor The Collector are set to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, so this could indicate that the Guardians get involved with stopping Thanos well before he reaches Earth.

The Collector could also play a larger role depending on what other secrets he has stashed away in his massive collection. Even with one of his bases now destroyed, he does potentially have Adam Warlock’s cocoon in his grasp. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is laying the foundation for Warlock to appear; and if Peter Dinklage is playing his sidekick Pip the Troll (as his hair may have revealed), then having The Collector release Warlock later on in the movie could further make his appearance that much more important.
