The Merc With A Mouth Is Coming To The MCU And Still Rated R

With the acquisition of 20th Century Fox by the house that the mouse built, along with eventual addition of the X-Men to the Marvel Cinematic Universe many were wondering about the fate of everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed sexy and scarred hero, Deadpool. Of course his two previous films were R-rated and fully embraced that rating. Well now thanks to Marvel Sudios president, Kevin Feige and an interview from COLLIDER, it has been confirmed that the rating will remain the same when Ryan Reynolds brings the character over to the MCU.

According to Feige, “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now… It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

Now even though we are being told that a full DEADPOOL film won’t be happening for some time, there s nothing that says that we may not see Wade Wilson pop up sporadically in the MCU throughout its numerous TV shows and films.

ABC Wants Kevin Feige To Develop A Marvel Studios TV Show For The Network

marvelstudios-2016logo

MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D may be coming to an end on ABC but it seems as if it may not be the last superhero show we will see on the television network.

During the winter TCA press tour, ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said that she was looking forward to working with Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige. She also made it be known that they had not discussed specifically which of the Marvel comics based characters would be suited for broadcast television.

“We love our partners at Marvel and we’re sad to see [Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D] go, it’s been a big part of our history. We’re looking forward to working with Kevin Feige and we’re at the very beginning of conversations with him now about what a Marvel and ABC show might look like. Right now, Marvel’s focus has been on Disney+, as it should be,” This from Burke as she spoke with DEADLINE.

Who would you like to see fill the broadcast television hole that will be left behind after AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D takes its final bow?

Could ALL Of The Marvel Television Shows Soon Be Falling Under The Marvel Studios Banner?

Loki

One of the big things that Marvel Studios is doing on top of the Phase 4 and 5 movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the big MCU TV shows they are producing for the Disney plus streaming site. Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige is developing a number of big budget TV shows for the Disney+ streaming service. But now it seems that may not be all because days after Hulu pulled the plug on GHOST RIDER, it’s now believed that all future live-action small screen productions will fall solely under Feige’s Marvel Studios banner.

A Marvel Television insider recently told Variety that they at HULU have “several” live-action projects in the works. But for know the only one that known is HELSTROM as the rest have either been scrapped or have uncertain futures. RUNAWAYS and CLOAK AND DAGGER (both which are set to air upcoming seasons) have yet to be renewed beyond their upcoming seasons.

It’s being reported that the plan now is for Marvel Studios to basically be in charge of everything to ensure that the stories put out there are of a consistent quality. With the Disney+ shows, “Marvel Studios execs and Feige held meetings early on to discuss how to maintain the visual standard fans have come to expect from Marvel’s films while still bringing their budgets more in line with other TV shows.”

Marvel Television has never really recovered from the embarrassment of THE INHUMANS, which many do not like to speak of. Along with the cancellations of the Marvel Netflix shows it is very understandable. But the animated projects which are set to hit HULU are still all set to go .

Now, it sounds like Marvel Television’s future projects will mostly be of the animated variety.

Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige Gives Details On Openly Gay Hero

eternalslogo

Over the past couple of  years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made some major changes when it comes to its level of representation in its film. This is due to in part the blockbuster successes of BLACK PANTHER and CAPTAIN MARVEL and even the upcoming SHANG CHI and the recently announced Ms. Marvel Disney plus series in the works,he MCU continues to grow more and more diverse.

This even goes into one of the studios upcoming projects THE ETERNALS, that announced it would feature both the studios and the MCU’s first openly gay hero. Now the identity of that character has yet to be disclosed but Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige has shared some new details on the hero.

While speaking to Good Morning America during the recent D23 Expo in Anaheim.“He’s married, he’s got a family. And that is just part of who he is.”

Of course Feige did not say which specific member of THE ETERNALS, would be the bero  but it does confirm previous reports that the character is male. Nonetheless, Feige’s statement makes it clear that the hero’s sexuality won’t be hidden,

Directed by Chloé Zhao, The Eternals stars Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff , Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee, Angelina Jolie, Barry Keoghan, Gemma Chan and Kit Harington.

MOON KNIGHT Is Coming To Disney Plus

images

Marvel Studios setting up two new phases had many wondering which would be the next. There are many cult favorites that people were hopeful for and it seems  to be coming to fruition.

MOON KNIGHT is being produced by Marvel Studios as a live action show that is coming to Disney plus. The announcement was made today at the D23 Expo currently happening in Anaheim.

Marvel Studios Kevin Feige, on the D23 stage said that MOON KNIGHT will be an “action adventure series” about a mercenary left for dead in the desert.

This next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to be a bit more weird and different from what has already been established so this makes sense. it seems that the Warren Ellis run of Moon Knight comics would be perfect for a television series since it shifts between genres in each issues according to Marc Spector’s different personalities. That’s something that could easily be applied to the episodic format and later connect into the larger picture.

There have been many rumors floating around about  Keanu Reeves being the perfect person to play Moon Knight, even AVENGERS: ENDGAME co-directors Anthony & Joe Russo even agreed as much. Combine that with the fact that there have been talks about Keanu Reeves taking some kind of role in the MCU, and that certainly raises our eyebrows a bit.

Will We Possibly No Longer See Spider-Man In The MCU

kevinspidey.jpg

I guess the saying is “it was fun while it lasted”, because it seems as if the wall crawler may no longer be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige won’t produce any further Spider-Man films because of an inability by Disney and Sony Pictures to reach new terms that would have given the former a co-financing stake going forward. This is reportedly due to a dispute that has taken place over the past few months at the top of Disney and Sony has essentially nixed Feige, and the future involvement of Marvel from the Spider-Man universe, as reported by DEADLINE.

Now which was initially thought as only one more Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures co-produced Spider-Man film is said to be two actually that are meant to have director Jon Watts and Tom Holland right at the forefront  Unless something dramatic happens, Feige won’t be the lead creative producer of those pictures.

The main reason for this drastic fallout is of course money and when you here some of the specifics you can see why neither side wanted to really budge.  Disney asked that future Spider-Man films be a 50/50 co-financing arrangement between the studios, and there were discussions that this might extend to other films in the Spider-Man universe. Sony turned that offer down plain and simple and possibly never came back to the table with a counter off. The heads of Sony, Tom Rothman and Tony Vinciquerra simply didn’t want to share its biggest franchise. Keep in mind SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME just became Sony’s highest grossing property every surpassing SKYFALL and generating $1.109 billion. Sony proposed keeping the current deal going under the current terms where Marvel receives in the range of 5% of first dollar gross, sources said. Disney refused.

In Sony’s defense they also had another reason for not wanting to split the production cost as Marvel keeps all of the merchandising for Spidey. Then to give up half of their universe to which they own the rights to may have been too much. But Sony seems to be in a good position as they hold the right to many other Spider-Man based characters including the Tom Hardy starring VENOM which the sequel is being directed by Andy Serkis,  MORBIUS starring Jared Leto, not to mention their Oscar winning animated SPIDERMAN INTO THE SPIDER VERSE.

Currently Marvel Studios/Disney, Feige nor Sony Pictures have commented.

Looks Like The DOCTOR DOOM Movie Will Not Happen

doctor-doom.jpg

LEGION on FX ended last night and while many were upset to see the brilliant show by Noah Hawley go away there was still a bit of hope he would stay around the marvel world with his DOCTOR DOOM movie script. The film which was said to be a unique take on the origin story of the super villain and not have any involvement of the Fantastic Four had many excited to see what Hawley would bring.

Unfortunately it seems that the excited which has been built up now must be cast to the side as Hawley in a recent interview revealed that the movie is “done” and that he has no idea whether Marvel Studios is interested in moving forward with his take on the ruler of Latveria.

“I mean, where it stands is now that the movie is done and Legion is done and I’ve taken a little time off because someone told me there was this word “vacation,” which means you don’t work, which sounded really interesting to me. But you know, I need to circle back to them and announce that I would love to make it and figure out if that’s something that is possible. Whether or not they already have a plan in place for what to do with those characters or whether they’re open to my kind of vision for what to do with those characters. But it’s sort of on me right now to go push them, which I will do as soon as I come up for air.”

Well that is a sad thing to here because we can be pretty much certain that Marvel studios big boss, Kevin Feige has no plans for a Victor Von Doom solo movie heading into phase 5 of the MCU and with the Fantastic Four set to make their arrival soon its a sure bet a solo movie based around their nemesis would be a focus. Not to mention Doom may not be big enough of a threat to carry over on a major level the way in which we saw Thanos.

Of course, this doesn’t completely remove a chance that Hawley ends up doing something in the MCU, but just like that MULTIPLE MAN movie and the mysterious Kitty Pryde project, it seems Doctor Doom solo outing will not happen.

Marvel Studios Is Reportedly Casting A Transgender Woman For An Upcoming Project

169796.jpg

One of the major things that Marvel Studios and president Kevin Feige has been focused on is more diversity and inclusions within their projects. From in front of to behind the camera Marvel is opening up the doors to so many worthy candidates and this news is no difference.

Marvel Studios is said to be searching for a transgender actress to play an unnamed character in Phase 4. Its not known if it will be for a movie or one of the Disney+ showsbut according to  Geeks Worldwide filming is scheduled for 2020, so that doesn’t narrow it down at all.

The character is code-named “Jessica,” and Marvel is reportedly looking for “a transwoman actress of any ethnicity in her 20s to 30s” to play her. Now Geeks Worldwide reckons it could be Sera (the Anchorite that hooks up with Angela in the comics), which would make the most sense as she’s currently the only major established transwoman Marvel Comics character.

Or she could be the queen Valkyrie will be searching for in THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER? This could be just as interesting but nonetheless it will be nice to see what happens.

AVENGERS ENDGAME Will Not Have An Intermission

image001

There have been so many rumors circulating about but at three hours and two minutes Avengers: Endgame will NOT have an intermission.

During a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirms that while the Infinity War sequel clocks in at over 180 minutes, there’s a good reason for that and fans should be aware that there may not be a good moment to miss even a few seconds!

“We are not fans of laborious lengths for no reason…We are fans of movies that you wish didn’t end. Movies that you want to see again as soon as it’s over. And movies that you just don’t ever find a good time to run out to the bathroom.”

So now that means you either need to do the aformentioned and get a catheter put in or have a bottle on standby  or even invest in an adult diaper. Either way this is not the first major blockbuster to clock in over the three hours and people have stayed throughout the films then, so why should it be different now.

Kevin Feige Confirmed To Oversee Disney X-Men Films

x-men-movies.jpg

Ladies and gentlemen it is now pretty set and concrete that once taboo word of “mutant” will not be forbidden anymore, as the X-men will be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed the X-Men will fall directly under the supervision of Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Iger stated, “It only makes sense. I want tot be careful here because of what’s been communicated to the Fox folks, but I think they know,” he went on to say, “It only makes sense for Marvel to be supervised by one entity. There shouldn’t be two Marvels.”

When Iger was asked a question regarding the merger that many people were curious about and thats the inclusion of Deadpool in the Avengers, he said, ““Kevin’s got a lot of ideas, I’m not suggesting that’s one of them. But who knows?”

This news is going to fire up many fans especially as we get closer and closer to Avengers 4. Does this mean we get a special post-credit scene? We shall see.
