KRYPTON Cancelled and LOBO Not Going Forward On SYFY

All good things seemingly come to an end amd this is one of those. KRYPTON on SyFy has been cancelled after two season amd its subsequent spin-off LOBO starring Emmitt J Scanlan will not be going forward.

The Superman origin story just aired its season 2 finale on August 14th and now it appears that it was also the series finale.  But this may not be the ultimate end as Warner Scripted television is looking for other platforms for the series.  A couple of course being the upcoming HBO MAX and the DC UNIVERSE streaming platform. Season 1 of KRYPTON is already showing on DC UNIVERSE.  Also THE EXPANSE which was cancelled by SyFy was picked up by AMAZON Prime so there still may be hope for one if not both. It is also.worth noting that KRYPTON’s ratings declined in Season 2..

When it comes to LOBO, a deal was already in place for Emmett J. Scanlan, who played the character of Lobo in KRYPTON Season 2, to star in the project. KRYPTON executive producer Cameron Welsh was set as executive producer/writer on the spinoff

Check Out The First Look At Emmitt J. Scanlan As Lobo

It was just announced yesterday that Emmitt J. Scanlan would be taking on the role of the bounty hunter, Lobo on the second season of Krypton on SYFY. Now we have our first look at Scanlan as “The Main Man” and I have to say it is not bad at all.

The popular DC character will be introduced as the big bad for season 2 of the SYFY series, and is described as a “ruthless bounty hunter who murdered his entire species.” which sticks pretty much to the comic origins. Here is the character breakdown for the show.

“A genius-level intellect when it comes to matters of warfare and is a deadly adversary. He has superhuman strength and is virtually immortal. Lobo’s word is the only thing he hold sacred and although he’ll never violate the letter of an agreement, he might disregard its spirit from time to time.”

Check out the picture below and let it be known your thoughts.

KRYPTON Has Its “Main Man” Lobo in Emmitt J Scanlan

When it’s was announced a this year’s San Diego Comic Con that the SYFY series, Krypton would be adding the bounty hunter the “Main Man” known as Lobo. Many were both excited and even wondered would it fully come to fruition. Now we have that answer as we have the official announcement as to who will portray the intergalactic bounty hunter.

Today, it was announced that Irish actor Emmett J. Scanlan will be the man bringing the universe’s last Czarnian to life.

For the sophomore season of Krypton Lobo will be a ruthless bounty hunter who murdered his entire species, and who possesses a genius level intellect when it comes to matters of warfare, making him a deadly adversary. Imbued with superhuman strength and virtually immortal, Lobo will keep coming until the job is finished. His word is the only thing Lobo holds sacred; and although he’ll never violate the letter of an agreement, he might disregard its spirit from time to time!

Well for comic book fans who may habe berm nervous That his origin or who he is would be changed or wors it seems they are staying true to Lobo’s comic book version . Lobo was born into the utopian society of Czarnia, but left after wiping out his entire race. Since then, he has worked as one of the universe’s most effective, relentless and violent bounty hunters. Part of what makes him so good at his job is his ridiculous power set. The guy has super strength that rivals Superman’s (and let’s not forget, in Krypton, Superman doesn’t yet exist), plus he has powerful regenerative healing and is essentially immortal. And that’s to say nothing about his practical skills. Lobo is one of the best brawlers in the universe, as well as an excellent tactician.

Lobo has been known to be an ally at times to Superman same many other Justice League members. But on Krypton, Superman does not yet exist.  It is the story of his grandfather Seg-El (played by Cameron Cuffe), it will be very interesting to see the tale in which they put on the character as far as his allegiances and whomhe is hunting goes. This is also the first time in which the character will be introduced to the LIVE action world.

SYFY Gives Us A Look At Krypton’s “Brainiac”

krypton-brainiac.jpg

Syfy’s Superman prequel Krypton is coming closer to its debut and we now have our first look at its main villain Brainiac who is being played by British actor Black Ritson.

“Yes, he traverses the universe in a gigantic skull ship, ripping cities out of planets, miniaturizing them and placing them on board. But he does so in the spirit of conservation,” Ritson told USA Today. “In his mind, he’s committed to the ultimate philanthropic act: saving all of creation. In many ways it’s analogous to Noah plucking out two of every animal to ensure their survival, even while knowing that others must perish.”

Syfy also released a video describing the villainous alien  as well.

Krypton debuts on March 21st.

More cast members have joined SYFY’s “Superman” prequel

Just in case you happened to have forgotten (even though we’ve reported it here) but yes the Superman prequel “Krypton” is still happening on the SYFY network and we have more casting news.

This is coming from Deadline.com

Deadline is reporting that

Ray Donovan alumna Paula Malcomsonhas been tapped for a pivotal guest-starring role and Blake Ritson (Da Vinci’s Demons) has been cast as a series regular (and a villain) in Syfy’s Superman prequel series Krypton, set for premiere in 2018.

Based on DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather (Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

Malcomson will play Charys, the matriarch of House El. Charys helps her son Seg navigate the treacherous pitfalls of Kandor City, their Kryptonian home embattled with oppression and revolt. The role has been recast after the pilot.

DC Entertainment

Ritson will play Brainiac. A parasitic, hyper-advanced alien android of immense intelligence, Brainiac is one of Superman’s oldest and most dangerous foes.

In addition to Cuffe, the show also stars Georgina Campbell, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Wallis Day, Aaron Pierre and Ian McElhinney.

The series hails from Warner Horizon Scripted Television and is executive produced by David S. Goyer through his Phantom Four banner. Cameron Welsh serves as executive producer and showrunner.

This is a question that has to be posed, are you excited for this upcoming series or not sure why it is happening? Let us know below.

Superman Prequel Has Found Its Female Lead

Georgina Campbell has joined Krypton to play the female lead!

In a show that honestly, I still don’t quite understand its purpose is moving forward in a major way and has found its female lead.

SYFY’s Superman Prequel has officially its lead and this is a VERY GOOD CHOICE.

According to Deadline, Krypton has added Murdered by My Boyfriend star Georgina Campbell to play the show’s female lead. She has also appeared in One Night, Tripped, and, more recently, in After Hours. The 24-year-old British actress bagged the BAFTA Television Award for Leading Actress last year.

The name of Campbell’s character in the upcoming DC Comics-based show is Lyta Zod. The character is described as “a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general, Alura Zod”. She “serves as a cadet — and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El”. Krypton will follow the story of Superman’s grandfather Seg-El!

Seg-El is Superman’s grandfather, and Krypton follows his fight “to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos” after the House of El was“ostracized and shamed”. So, the show is actually set two generations ahead of the destruction of Superman’s home planet.

Cast members for Seg-El; his father Ter-El and grandfather Val-El; Lyta’s mother Alura Zod; and the “chiseled twenty-something bad boy” Dev-Em are yet to be announced. However, it is safe to assume that we will come across more casting announcements in the next few months, as they are eyeing a 2017 launch.

The outlet also reveals that the Krypton pilot will be filmed in Serbia, with Colm McCarthy sitting behind the camera and Damian Kindler serving as the showrunner.

As much as I would love to have hope for this show. My biggest concern is; who actually cares about Krypton pre-Superman even being born.
