Sometimes you get news stories that pretty much is tragic and this another one of those stories.

Freeform has decided to not renew the drama MARVEL ’s CLOAK & DAGGER for a third season. The news was broken by Deadline. The word circulating is that the options on the cast had expired this week which also played into the decision.

CLOAK & DAGGER’s second season ratings dropped almost 40% in comparison to its first season . This was on par with another recently cancelled drama series, PLL: THE PERFECTIONISTSSo it is easy to say that the writing was on the wall.

Though the show has been cancelled the recent season will not be the last in which we see the duo of Cloak and Dagger, played by Aubrey Joseph & Olivia Holt respectively.  The pair is set to appear in an upcoming crossover episode of MARVEL’S RUNAWAYS on Hulu.

We Are OFFICIALLY Getting The MARVEL’S RUNAWAYS And MARVEL’S CLOAK AND DAGGER Crossover

This has been something fans have wanted since the announcement of a CLOAK AND DAGGER show on Freeform. To have Tyrone and Tandy (Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holt respectively) team up with the group of teenagers from a Los Angeles suburb and duke it out with the teens super villain parents known as the Pride and even aliens that have invaded the planet.

Well thanks to confirmation from an Instagram we now know that it is officially happening. Tyrone and Tandy will be crossing over into season 3 of MARVELS RUNAWAYS. The crossover was confimed via the Runaways official Instagram page.

There had already been speculation as this was happening when a photo was taken with both Aubrey Joseph and Gregg Sulkin who portrays Chase Stein on the Hulu show.

The signs have been coming together for this to happen as the most recent one was at the end of the second season finale of MARVEL’S CLOAK AND DAGGER, when Tyrone and Tandy boarded a bus and left New Orleans to find something new and new people to help.

Season 3 of MARVELS RUNAWAYS debuts December 13 on Hulu.

Elizabeth Hurley Is Bewitching Her Way Into MARVEL’S RUNAWAYS On HULU

Elizabeth Hurley  is bringing some ROYAL, BEWITCHING dark magic to Marvel’s Runaways on Hulu in the Season 3 as Morgan Le Fey, a sorceress with considerable history and even greater power.

The character description being given by the Runaways producers: “Morgan le Fay is an iconic Marvel villain. A student of Merlin, she is considered the greatest sorceress of all time. With a black crow as her familiar and the ability to enchant objects, manipulate mystic energy and astral project, she is powerful and intelligent with a cutthroat wit.”

With magic being a major part of the series the group of teens seem to now have twice as much to battle with.

Hurley played the royal of Queen Helena on The Royals (2015-2018) and  next year she will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of BEWITCHED that she co-starred with DOOM PATROL’s Brendan Fraser as the Devil.

MARVEL’S RUNAWAYS Has Been Renewed For Season Three

runaways2.jpg

The adventure that adding even more twists and left many wondering what some of heroes fate will be will not leave us open ended as its been revealed that the young batch of superheroes in Marvel’s RUNAWAYS will return for season three on Hulu.

This season will be a little bit shorter than previous ones as this upcoming season will be 10 episodes instead of 13. Now this is not necessarily a bad thing as 10 episodes has become a trend for streaming series across the board. Because it is proving to be the most optimal way for people to binge.

Also a bit of side information  Runaways plans to focus more on the kids, so the actors playing parents who were series regulars are being reduced from all shows produced to factual series regulars – 7 out of 10.

“We are so excited to tell more Runaways stories and are so grateful to Marvel, Hulu, our amazing cast and crew and of course our passionate audience,” said  Stephanie Schwartz and Josh Savage. “Season three will be a magical time on Runaways, as we deepen our connection to the Marvel universe. We are honored to continue to play in the sandbox created by Brian K Vaughn and Adrian Alphona.”

News that many were pretty sure was a sure shot is that Marvel’s Runaways would be returning for a third season after a great second season. Marvel’s Runaways looks set to return to Hulu for a third season after the digital platform’s content chief Craig Erwich praised the performance of the comic book adaptation at the Television Critics Association on Monday.

“We’re really happy with the performance of Runaways, both creatively and in terms of its performance, and we’ll have an announcement shortly,” Erwich said, while speaking Monday during Hulu’s session at TCA.

The second 13-episode season of the show launched on December 21, 2018 and it was highly received and praised for its cast performances.

Could We Get A Cloak And Dagger-Runaways Crossover Soon?

crossovercadrunaways.jpg

Something many fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been wanting more of is crossovers. The universe is quite large and outside The Defenders , the TV shows haven’t had too many crossovers. Never forget the first showAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. the one which has the most potential to connect with both TV and films hasn’t crossed over with the any of the other TV shows. There is a possibility though of a couple of other Marvel properties meeting and teaming up. Hulu’s Runaways and Freeform’s Cloak and Dagger have the biggest connection of all. Both focus on teenagers with powers that are trying to escape their troubles. In the comics, they had many crossovers and the characters of Cloak and Dagger even were temporary members of the group. The biggest obstacle would be their geographical locations given Cloak and Dagger are in New Orleans and the Runaways are in Los Angeles (well some are after this recent season). But who knows what may happen.

The official Twitter page for Cloak and Dagger certainly knows that there is a want for the crossover and teased a special shoot between actors Aubrey Joseph who plays Tyrone (Cloak) Johnson and Gregg Sulkin who plays Chase Stein.

Now this doesn’t guarantee that a crossover is happening. This may be just a simple photoshoot for marketing purposes. Also along with the particulars of  geographical locations there is also not knowing what the future may hold for any of the shows with the upcoming Disney+ (plus) network.  Three of the Netflix shows (Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Daredevil) have already been cancelled and no plans have been announced when and if they will move.  There is also the upcoming New Warriors that does not have a  network home yet.

Only time will tell if we as the viewing public do in fact get the crossover we all are hoping for.

If you remember when season 1 ended, our team of young heroes lived up to their name by going on the run after making the shocking discovery that their parents were actually a cabal of supervillains known as The Pride However thanks to this trailer it seems as if  Gert, Alex, Karolina, Nico, Chase and Old Lace are preparing to go on the offensive.

The trailer starts right at the end and shows the teens trying to get their wits about themselves to take on The Pride. To do that, they’ll need some upgraded tech, which comes to them courtesy of a mysterious new character named Topher (Jan Luis Castellanos), who may not be all that he seems.
