Many of us have been wondering when we get either new footage or a poster of sorts for Patty Jenkins sequel WONDER WOMAN 1984. Since nothing had been heard it was easily surmised that Warner Bros. would be waiting until San Diego Comic Con and its big panel in Hall H.
Well today the WB revealed that they will not be having a presence in Hall H during this years comic con and it rightfully shocked many people.
In comes Patty Jenkins to the rescue. Jenkins took to Twitter to express her disappointment and also unveil and amazing new poster for the upcoming sequel.
We get a look at Gal Gadot as the heroic Amazonian is a very psychadelic, 1980s vibe poster. Check it out in full and let us know what you think.
It seems as if thanks to the power of Twitter we have the OFFICIAL title for the sequel to the blockbuster hit Wonder Woman.
Both director Patty Jenkins and Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot both took to Twitter today to not only give us what seems like a confirmation of the follow-up films title but also the return of a very important character in Wonder Woman’s life.
Now in both of the tweets we see “Wonder Woman 1984” and the hashtag #WW84, so it is pretty safe to assume that “Wonder Woman 1984” will be the name of the film. As we already know that the film is set to take place in the 1980s.
But the most peculiar and HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE thing is in Patty Jenkins tweet showing the return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. the biggest question that is and should be asked with that is “HOW?!?!?!”. If you remember in the first film he sacrificed himself during Wonder Woman’s final fight with Ares. He blows himself up in an airplane carrying bombs and poison. Now if you tell me that at that LAST moment a Green Lantern returned to pull him out the aircraft or that in this instance Diana is just hallucinating then I think it will all play out. If not it’s pretty much a safe bet that we will see both Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot being questioned in the form of that of Ricky Ricardo, “You got some ‘splaning to do.”
Let us know your thoughts, are you intrigued to now know the potential title of the movie and what are your thoughts on the “return” of Steve Trevor.
Wonder Woman 2 will be a “totally different” film from its predecessor. This is what was said recently by director Patty Jenkins when it comes to the highly successful blockbuster film Wonder Woman. Now Patty Jenkins has followed up her remarks with a bit more information at the Palm Springs Film Festival. Also teased a possible appearance by Wonder Woman television star Lynda Carter while speaking with ET Canada.
“We’re actually making a totally different film with a lot of the same, similar like things that we love, but it’s its own movie completely, so it’s not ‘two’ to us,” she explained. “It’s an entirely new adventure together that we couldn’t be luckier [to do].”
Wonder Woman 2 is set to go into production later on this year for a 2019 release. We do not know much yet about the film except that Jenkins has already said that there will be new characters and even a new love interest. Jenkins has insisted that she indeed has been attempting to get former Wonder Woman (Carter) to share the screen with the current Princess (Gadot), however nothing is confirmed.
“Lynda is one of the dearest people to us, has been a great mentor and dear friend. And we actually desperately tried to get her in the first one and we had the scheduling that couldn’t work, so she’s always been a part of our Wonder Woman family,” she shared. “We won’t say anything yet, but we certainly — there’s no lack of trying.”
Carter was at the premiere for Wonder Woman last year to support Jenkins and star Gal Gadot, she also notably came to the defense of Patty Jenkins when Titanic director James Cameron criticized the film. Carter has been slowly integrating her way back into the DC universe as President Olivia Marsdin on The CW’s Supergirl.
Wonder Woman 2 arrives in theaters on November 1, 2019.
Granted we will not get the sequel to the blockbuster hit Wonder Woman until 2019 but the buzz behind the film has high profile celebrities throwing their hat into the ring to be part of this amazing project.
This name is thrown in by Emmy Award winner, Sarah Paulson. Sarah who has been seen in American Horror Story and The People v. O.J. Simpson responded to a tweet in which both her and Charlize Theron were suggested to play a member of Wonder Woman’s rogue gallery, Cheetah. Check out the tweet and Sarah’s response
Now, yes this can be exciting, but the biggest issue is we dont know ANYTHING yet about the upcoming sequel except Gal Gadot will reprise her role as the Princess of Themyscira and it will once again be directed by Patty Jenkins. We dont know what the plot is or even if Cheetah will be the nemesis. This will be interesting for sure and you can guarantee that your Trusty Sidekicks will keep you updated as things develop.
After an amazing showing at the box office and still continuing to make money, it has officially been confirmed that Patty Jenkins will direct the sequel to the immensely successful Wonder Woman.
The story was broken by Variety today and states the film which the script is being written with Geoff Johns, (who oversees the DC film universe) is set to arrive in theaters December 13, 2019.
Gal Gadot is also set to return as the titular Heroine who is Princess Diana of Themyscira with an alter ego of Diana Prince. After a captivating debut in Batman V. Superman and then a phenomenal solo film debut, Gadot is set to lasso in audiences again in the upcoming Justice League movie due out this November.
All we were waiting for was what’s considered an official release date announcement, now we have that.
Now we know the Princess of Themyscria will be back on the big screen in time for the 2019 holiday season.
Warner Bros. announced Tuesday that Wonder Woman 2 is officially slated to hit theaters Dec. 13, 2019, a date the studio recently staked out for an undisclosed “WB event film.” The sequel will also be screened in IMAX.
The first Wonder Woman movie, directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot in the title role, opened to strong reviews in June and has raked in more than $389 million at the domestic box office, making it the highest-grossing film of the summer. Making a sequel was a no-brainer, and Warner Bros. confirmed it would do so over the weekend at Comic-Con.
