SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME Sequel Delayed To December 2021

In another day filled with theatrical release push backs the much anticipated SPIDER- MAN FAR FROM HOME sequel has once again fallen victim to the new slate dates.

Even though the change isnt as bad as others, the film has moved from November 5, 2021 to December 17,2021. Sony announced the move on Thursday night after a shakeup of Disney’s film slate was unveiled earlier in the day. The “Far From Home” sequel will take the spot formerly held by “Avatar 2,” which was pushed back a year to Dec. 16, 2022.

Just in case you need a reminder the third film with Tom Holland’s version of Spider-Man was originally supposed to hit theaters on July 16, 2021 but due to the coronavirus pandemic was pushed back earlier this year in April.

Sony Pictures noted that the latest delay was only part of the domestic release calendar, leaving its international release in question.

Could SILVER AND BLACK Potentially Be A Disney Plus Series

Spider-Man-Sony-Marvel-Silver-and-Black

Remember back in December of 2017 when it was announced that Silver Sable and Black Cat would be teaming up for their own movie?  They were set be brought  together as an unlikely duo. But that ulitmately changed as it was decided to give the pair their own individual films. However nothing set in stone has been announced about that.

Well there may be a bit of sterling (as is Silver, get it?…) news about the pair. During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, original director Gina Prince-Bythewood was asked what she knows about the project and from what was told it seems as if there may be some rumblings leading the ladies towards Disney plus

“I really love that project, and I do hope it can still happen in some way. It keeps going through different thoughts. First, it was going to be the two of them, and then the decision was made to separate the two. Now, there’s a thought of “Hey, maybe we put it on Disney+ as a limited series,” but I loved it more as a film with the two of them. So, my hope is that one day it can still happen.”

Now here’s where it may get confusing for some. It is already known that Sony has laid out plans to bring many Spider-man related characters to the big screen. MORBIUS now being set to release in March of 2021, VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE in June of 2021, there’s even talks of a Kraven the Hunter film.  Sony also has their own plan for their own Spider-verse that is not that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Which now leads to the even bigger conundrum. Marvel TV is now all under the control of Marvel Studios and why all of the upcoming MCU Disney plus shows are carrying on into the overall story. SILVER AND BLACK by that account would not fit in with the overall story and would throw things off.

So that leaves the question, if SILVER AND BLACK is brought to the small screen

Mommy And Daddy Have Made Up And Spider-Man Is Back in The MCU

We will leave it up to interpretation who is “mommy” and who is “daddy” but nonetheless it is all around good news because Sony and Marvel Studios/Disney have made amends and the co-produced 3rd SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING film will happen. Amy Pascal will also once again co-produce through Pascal Pictures which she has done over the past two films.

The third film is scheduled for release on July 16, 2021. Also as part of the arrangement, Spider-Man will also appear in a future Marvel Studios film.  Which ultimately makes this a very big win for all of the fans.

Now in case you are unaware what happened. money was the overall root of the problem.  Disney was reportedly seeking a 50/50 co-financing stake in the Spider-man films. This is because of Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige’s continued guiding hand which resulted in the delivery of Sony’s highest grossing film ever with $1.13 billion. It also has to be mentioned that Disney already owns the merchandise on Spider-Man. The original Sony-Marvel deal over the last two SPIDER-MAN movies saw Disney getting an estimated 5% of first gross dollar.

This of course now has changed with the renewed partnership.  Sony has agreed to the terms that Disney proposed for its participation in a future Spider-Man sequel. With this Disney/Marvel Studios would co-finance 25% of a third HOMECOMING movie for a 25% equity stake.

Kevin Feige released a statement which stated,

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Amy Pascal who has produced the first two Tom Holland led Spider-man films also released a statement.

“This is terrific. Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in Far From Home and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes. This has been a winning partnership for the studios, the franchise and the fans and I’m overjoyed it will continue.”

No matter what we now can breathe a sigh of relief as the conclusion to the story can be told and then see what happens within Sony’s own Spider-man Universe.

Will We Possibly No Longer See Spider-Man In The MCU

kevinspidey.jpg

I guess the saying is “it was fun while it lasted”, because it seems as if the wall crawler may no longer be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige won’t produce any further Spider-Man films because of an inability by Disney and Sony Pictures to reach new terms that would have given the former a co-financing stake going forward. This is reportedly due to a dispute that has taken place over the past few months at the top of Disney and Sony has essentially nixed Feige, and the future involvement of Marvel from the Spider-Man universe, as reported by DEADLINE.

Now which was initially thought as only one more Marvel Studios/Sony Pictures co-produced Spider-Man film is said to be two actually that are meant to have director Jon Watts and Tom Holland right at the forefront  Unless something dramatic happens, Feige won’t be the lead creative producer of those pictures.

The main reason for this drastic fallout is of course money and when you here some of the specifics you can see why neither side wanted to really budge.  Disney asked that future Spider-Man films be a 50/50 co-financing arrangement between the studios, and there were discussions that this might extend to other films in the Spider-Man universe. Sony turned that offer down plain and simple and possibly never came back to the table with a counter off. The heads of Sony, Tom Rothman and Tony Vinciquerra simply didn’t want to share its biggest franchise. Keep in mind SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME just became Sony’s highest grossing property every surpassing SKYFALL and generating $1.109 billion. Sony proposed keeping the current deal going under the current terms where Marvel receives in the range of 5% of first dollar gross, sources said. Disney refused.

In Sony’s defense they also had another reason for not wanting to split the production cost as Marvel keeps all of the merchandising for Spidey. Then to give up half of their universe to which they own the rights to may have been too much. But Sony seems to be in a good position as they hold the right to many other Spider-Man based characters including the Tom Hardy starring VENOM which the sequel is being directed by Andy Serkis,  MORBIUS starring Jared Leto, not to mention their Oscar winning animated SPIDERMAN INTO THE SPIDER VERSE.

Currently Marvel Studios/Disney, Feige nor Sony Pictures have commented.

Over the past weekend Tom Holland teased that we would be getting something today. Now with no real telling what that could be, many were hoping for a new SPIDER-MAN Far From Home trailer.

More behind the scenes photos from the filming of Spider-Man Far From Home are here and it gives us the wall crawler in another new suit.

This time we see Tom Holland who plays Spidey decked out in a red and black suit. There was a toy of the suit in the past. See below

It seems that Mr. Stark may have hooked up Peter with a variety of suits outside of just the upgraded variation and the iron spider. Add this to the noir-esque one we have seen and it beckons the question how many more suits will be used in the movie.

Cannot wait til 2019 for this one

Spider-Man-Sony-Marvel-Silver-and-Black

Yes, in case you forgot Sony is not just doing one Spiderman based film, they are doing several. The next one outside of the already in production solo Venom film, is that of “Silver & Black” and it’s going into production next year.

Silver & Black, now in its pre-production stage, will introduce filmgoers to the characters of Felicia Hardy (portayed by Felicity Jones inn the Amazing Spiderman 2)/Black Cat and Silver Sablinova/Silver Sable.  Now at the moment we don’t have any casting information but hopefully that will be released soon.

Oh yeah in case you think that Sony is stopping their Spider-verse with just these films…..they arent. Following the releases of both Venom and Silver & Black, Sony also has plans to release a film based on the Marvel Comics character Morbius the Living Vampire.

Morbius

That script is currently being worked on by Matt Sazama and Burk Shapless, who wrote the story for the 2017 Power Rangers film. Silver & Black is currently slated for a release on February 8, 2019.

Are you looking forward to Silver & Black and the rest of Sony’s Spider-verse films Let us know.

We see Spider-Man has on a new suit, which appears to bee the one presented to him at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Many believe this to be the famous Iron Spider suit loaded with more Stark Tech. The most obvious change is Black Widow who has a new green shit and blonde hair. Iron Man has a new Mark version of his suit and Captain America sports a new one along with a full beard.

We can only wait til more promo art and pics are released and even the long awaited full trailer.
