There had been much talk about the future of STARGIRL, would it actually air on the DC Universe streaming site or possibly be scrapped altogether. Well we now have an answer and it is an interesting one.

According to DEADLINE, STARGIRL will be the first original DC Universe series to air on linear television. The upcoming superhero drama will play on THE CW after its debut on the DC streaming platform.

Here’s a little more clarity on how this will work. The CW will broadcast each episode in primetime the day after it premieres on the DC Universe streaming service. STARGIRL is set to debut sometime during the second quarter of 2020. A premiere date will be announced later, along with scheduling information which night the show will air on the CW.

With both BATWOMAN and SUPERGIRL heading towards their ends of season around this time this may be the perfect place to fill the void on the network.

STARGIRL stars Brec Bassinger as Coutrney Whitmore aka Stargirl along with Joel McHale, Luke Wilson, Amy Smart, Trae Romano, Cameron Gellman, Yvette Monreal, Anjelika Washington, Meg DeLacy, Neil Jackson, Jake Austin Walker, Christopher James Baker and Hunter Sansone.

We now have our first look at Brandon Routh is suited up as Kingdom Come Superman from 1996 in this first-look photo from The CW. Routh who starred in SUPERMAN RETURNS (2006) is back in the cape once again as a greying older version of the Man of Steel for The CW’s upcoming CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS crossover event.

The different iteration of the symbol on his chest is that of the the compromised, world-weary version introduced in the landmark DC Comics saga KINGDOM COME . Routh will portray both Clark Kent and Superman along with still portraying Ray Palmer/The Atom  on DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW in the annual CW Arrowverse crossover event.

Routh won’t be the only one flying up in the skies like a bird, like a plane, SMALLVILLE star Tom Welling as well as Tyler Hoechlin, who has been the Superman for the Arrowverse shows on The CW since being introduced in SUPERGIRL.

SUPERGIRL Gets A New Uniform Heading Into Season 5

Since its inception first on CBS then over to the CW, we have seen Melissa Benoist as the titular character don the classic Supergirl uniform on the shirt. We saw a variation in the CRISIS ON EARTH X crossover where as Overgirl it was still the same outfit just a different color scheme.

Well during a chat with director Kevin Smith at Twitch Prime’s Apex Legends Crown Cup, the SUPERGIRL star confirmed Kara Danvers will receive a new costume when she returns to the small screen this fall. And now we have our first look at the costume.

supergril

As you can see Supergirl’s new costume more directly resembles Superman’s in being the full on suit with her in pants instead of the skirt. Now as Kevin Smith and Melissa Benoist in the interview, this design change didn’t come out of the blue. After all, even the most recent season of show poked some fun at the impracticality of fighting in a skirt when Red Daughter mocked Kara’s outfit during one of their confrontations.

Oh yeah we have to take note to the bangs in the photo as well.

It is less than a month away until the 50th anniversary of San Diego Comic Con is upon us. One of the notable things will be the heavy WBTV presence throughout Ballroom 20. With that one of the focuses will be be that of the CW’s Arrowverse.

The reason for this is not only will it be the eighth and final season of ARROW but also is the mega CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS crossover. This will bring together BATWOMAN, ARROW, THE FLASH, SUPERGIRL, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and no one is sure yet if BLACK LIGHTNING will fall into the fray.

We dont know fully what to expect yet in regards to the crossover or their respective shows  but it seems as though we may have a bit of a tease from Arrowverse executive consultant and former ARROW showrunner Marc Guggenheim.  Guggenheim took to Twitter to tease of the potential Crisis-size announcement.

Even as production on season two of TITANS on the DC Universe is well underway we are still getting new and exciting casting news. Mercy Graves is coming to the superhero show and she will be played by DOCTOR WHO alum, Natalie Gumede. Graves is known as the formidable bodyguard and ruthless righthand to evil genius and megalomaniac, Lex Luthor.

The news which was first broken by Deadline says that Gumede is best known for her portrayal of Ashley in the Doctor Who Christmas Special in 2014 and more recently the 10-part Jekyll & Hyde series on ITV as the head of the criminal underworld in 1930s London.

The official character bio from the show’s producers: “Mercy Graves is the ruthless, cunning, right hand and bodyguard to the notorious Lex Luthor – serving her boss with unquestioned loyalty. Her connection to the Luthors runs deep, as Mercy has been a friend of the family and in Lex’s life since they were young.”

The characater of Mercy Graves was also seen on this recents episode of SUPERGIRL on the CW by Rhona Mitra. Now its wondering who will possibly be portraying Lex Luthor.

What are your thoughts and who do you hope to see as Lex in the series?

It had been revealed that the 4th season of Supergirl on The CW would finally bring in the villainous Lex Luthor after much talk of his name and having his mother and sister Lillian and Lena Luthor respectively in the series. Now we know how will portray the man known as Superman’s greatest for. That man is former Two and A Half Men star, Jon Cryer.

Cryer will be a recurring character on the series and will.make his debut in the 15th episode of this season. A season which has mirrored the current political landscape involving discussions on freedom of the press, immigration, hate and racism and much more.

Cryer is no stranger to the superman universe. In the 1987 film Superman IV: The Quest For Peace, Cryer played Lenny Luthor, nephew to Lex Luthor who was portrayed by Gene Hackman.

Had Superman Been In Shazam He Would Not Have Said Much

Henry Cavill's 'Shazam!' Cameo As Superman Was Only Going To Be Two Lines

One of the biggest shocks throughout the DC cinematic Universe was that Warner Bros and Henry Cavill may have separated their business relationship. Though nothing is 100% official but many believe that Justice League may have been the last time we see Cavill as the Man of Steel.

One of the biggest reasonings behind the breakdown between the two sides was a potential cameo in the upcoming SHAZAM! An agreement was not reached and it is also been revealed that Cavill’s potential cameo would only have had Superman deliver two lines.

Now no one knows officially knows if the cameo wont happen and possibly all the talks of separation may just be an amazing marketing ploy. But it has come out that Warner Bros. is reportedly considering Marvel Studios Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan to don the cape and tights. Along with that bit of news they are also shifting their focus to the in development Supergirl film. Supergirl or Kara Zor El is the cousin of Superman. Then script is currently being written by 22 Jump Street scribe Oren Uziel.
