Stepping into Phase four, Marvel Studios is definitely keep their momentum going and even ramping it up a bit with new casting announcements to their upcoming films.
This newest one completely falls along those lines. Richard Madden (Game Of Thrones and Bodyguard is in talks to join Marvel Studios The Eternals. Madden joins Angelina Jolie Ma-Dong Seok and Kumail Nanjiani .
The word is that Madden will be playing Ikaris, a member of The Eternals.
Walt Disney has just released an updated slate of its upcoming film releases. this also includes the films obtain through its acquisition of 20th Century Fox films. One of the notable things is the change in some of the release dates for films that were expected to arrive in theaters sooner.
Most Notably this distinction goes to Fox’s THE NEW MUTANTS. The horror mutant which was originally believed to be hitting theaters sometime this year will now arrive on April 3rd, 2020. The film which had been pushed back several times and experienced delays due to reshoots had many wondering if it would ever see the light of day. Now it will indeed be seen in movie theaters or either the Disney plus streaming platform or Hulu.
Also on the schedule are many Untitled Marvel projects. Post the events of Avengers Endgame many new stories are abroad and waiting to be told. There of course are films in which we know are either in production or development from Marvel Studios. These include a solo BLACK WIDOW film starring Scarlett Johannson, THE ETERNALS with Angelina Jolie, SHANG-CHI, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 3. Other films that have been mentioned before were a BLACK PANTHER sequel and a DOCTOR STRANGE sequel.

Production on Marvel Studios The Eternals is set to begin later on this year. First there was news that Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani have signed on for key roles, and now it is being reported by The Wrap that Korean actor Ma Dong-seok (Train To Busan, The Outlaws) will make his American film debut in the cosmic superhero flick.
Now of Course Marvel Studios has not revealed any information as whom exactly Dong-Seok would be portraying but it is believed that Jolie may be portraying Sersi.
Since we are talking about The Eternals, That Hashtag Show has heard that Marvel and director Chloe Zhao are specifically looking for an openly gay/bisexual Asian actor in his twenties to play “James.”More than likely that’s not the character’s real name but he’s described as “intellectual, emotional, and has a strong sense of family.” Apparently, How To Get Away With Murder actor Conrad Ricamora is being eyed for the part.
It seems as if the casting news is heating up for Marvel’s The Eternals that is set to go into production this summer. First a director was announced in Chloe Zhao, then most recently it was announced that Academy Award winner would be joining the frey. Now seemingly you can add Academy Award nominated writer (for The Big Sick along with his wife Emily V. Gordon) , Kumail Nanjiani to the bunch.
Nothing is set in stone but it seems as if it is indeed a done deal. No word from Nanjiani or Marvel Studios as to whom he would be portraying in the film.
The Eternals is going to be set millions of years in the past when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create super-powered individuals known as the Eternals along with the villainous Deviants.
The two groups went on to battle each other throughout history. The Eternals also warred with Greek, Roman, and Norse deities before leaving Earth to explore the stars.
Everyone knows that now we are seeing more and more A-list actors putting their bids into becoming part of the different comic book universes. Now rumor is circulating that Academy Award winner, Angelina Jolie is currently in talks to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadline is reporting that sources are saying that the Girl, Interrupted Oscar winner is in talks for Chloe Zhao’s feature The Eternals, about near immortal beings and their more gargantuan antagonists the Deviants who were created by the cosmic beings called Celestials.
This story will give us a a connection to the Mad Titan, Thanos being that is father is an eternal as well we may go into Ego the living planet, who was played by Kurt Russell in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Now again its not official as of yet but stay tuned to The Mad Titan Podcast as this story develops.
Marvel’s story of super power near-god beings known as The Celestials and their villainous adversaries the Deviants now has its director to bring to life on the big screen for the film The Eternals.
Chloe Zhao director of the film The Rider, which won the C.I.C.A.E. Award at the Cannes Film Festival. It also premiered in the Directors Fortnight and went on to play Telluride and TIFF last year. She will helm the project with the screenplay from Matthew and Ryan Firpo.
Some backstory on The Eternals, the Celestials (beings similar to Ego the Living Planet as seen in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 played by Kurt Russell) experimented on humans creating both races of immortal spin-offs. The Eternals debuted as a comic in July 1976. Also Thanos ,the Mad Titan who disintegrated half of reality is the son of Eternals Mentor and Sui-San, Thanos carries the Deviants gene, and as such, shares the physical appearance of the Eternals’ cousin race. So this film may play into being sort of an origin story to Thanos himself.
