Alfred Molina Returing As Doctor Octopus For Tom Holland “SPIDER-MAN” Sequel

The realization of a live action “Spider-Verse” film gets realer and realer by the moment. It has been announced that Alfred Molina  who portrayed the evil Doctor Octopus in Tobey Maguire “Spider-Man” sequel, is reprising his role for the third installment of the Tom Holland-led superhero adventure.

SPIDER-MAN 2 directed by Sam Raimi was originally said to be one of the best SPIDER-MAN films until the arrival of SPIDER-MAN INTO THE SPIDERVERSE (in this writers personal opinion), and Alfred Molina’s portrayal of Dr. Otto Octavius, a brilliant scientist who after a freak accident involving fusion energy causes his mechanical AI tentacles to become fused to his spine and caused him to turn to evil, played a major part in that both critical and fan success.

This news added to that of Jamie Foxx reprising his THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN 2 role of electro has amped fans up about the “spider-verse”. The theory of the Multiverse within Tom Hollands, SPIDER-MAN world was introduced by Jake Gyllehaal’s Mysterio in SPIDER-MAN FAR FROM HOME. Sony Pictures also have set in motion plans for numerous other live action Spider-Man character based projects, such as Silk, Jackpot, Madame Webb and the upcoming VENOM LET THERE BE CARNAGE starring Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson.

There has been no official word yet on if, Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield are signed on to join the upcoming Tom Holland sequel but we know that filming has begun and if there are any on-set sightings or official confirmations you will be able to find them all here.

The Spider-Man sequel is set to hit theaters in 2021 from Sony Pictures in a partnership with Marvel Studios.

Mommy And Daddy Have Made Up And Spider-Man Is Back in The MCU

We will leave it up to interpretation who is “mommy” and who is “daddy” but nonetheless it is all around good news because Sony and Marvel Studios/Disney have made amends and the co-produced 3rd SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING film will happen. Amy Pascal will also once again co-produce through Pascal Pictures which she has done over the past two films.

The third film is scheduled for release on July 16, 2021. Also as part of the arrangement, Spider-Man will also appear in a future Marvel Studios film.  Which ultimately makes this a very big win for all of the fans.

Now in case you are unaware what happened. money was the overall root of the problem.  Disney was reportedly seeking a 50/50 co-financing stake in the Spider-man films. This is because of Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige’s continued guiding hand which resulted in the delivery of Sony’s highest grossing film ever with $1.13 billion. It also has to be mentioned that Disney already owns the merchandise on Spider-Man. The original Sony-Marvel deal over the last two SPIDER-MAN movies saw Disney getting an estimated 5% of first gross dollar.

This of course now has changed with the renewed partnership.  Sony has agreed to the terms that Disney proposed for its participation in a future Spider-Man sequel. With this Disney/Marvel Studios would co-finance 25% of a third HOMECOMING movie for a 25% equity stake.

Kevin Feige released a statement which stated,

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it. Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Amy Pascal who has produced the first two Tom Holland led Spider-man films also released a statement.

“This is terrific. Peter Parker’s story took a dramatic turn in Far From Home and I could not be happier we will all be working together as we see where his journey goes. This has been a winning partnership for the studios, the franchise and the fans and I’m overjoyed it will continue.”

No matter what we now can breathe a sigh of relief as the conclusion to the story can be told and then see what happens within Sony’s own Spider-man Universe.

More behind the scenes photos from the filming of Spider-Man Far From Home are here and it gives us the wall crawler in another new suit.

This time we see Tom Holland who plays Spidey decked out in a red and black suit. There was a toy of the suit in the past. See below

It seems that Mr. Stark may have hooked up Peter with a variety of suits outside of just the upgraded variation and the iron spider. Add this to the noir-esque one we have seen and it beckons the question how many more suits will be used in the movie.

Cannot wait til 2019 for this one

Spider-Man Far From Home Stealth Suit May Hold AVENGERS Spoilers

SpidermanNoir

Photos have recently been released from the set of Spider-Man:Far From Home with show the wall crawler donning a black stealth suit that is reminiscent to his original spidey suit in Spider-Man Homecoming as well as an ode to the classic Spider-Man Noir look.

Now further closeups show a bit more detail about the suit that may hold some potential spoilers as we head into Avengers 4 which is currently still untitled.

As you can see not only is the suit dark and stealthy but is also appears to be armor plated and even sort of tactical.

Now if we look at a lightened version of the photo reveals that the costume has a S.H.I.E.L.D. logo on it and that may provide some major clues about both this movie and Avengers 4. In case you have been under a rock both Nick Fury and Maria Hill will appear in the sequel and yes they did turn to coffee grounds in Avengers Infinity War but it does not that they do not return in the next Avengers team up that releases in theaters before the second Spider-Man film. Could it be that the organization is reformed after the Thanos attack which would absolutely be understood within the MCU.

If it isn’t broke then don’t try to fix it.

That’s the best way to describe the formula for the highly successful MCU solo film debut of your friendly wall crawler in Spider-man:Homecoming. With its success, rave reviews and overall praise of Tom Holland webbing his way into people’s hearts, it’s a blast to hear that the same writers are on board for the sequel and potentially its director as well thanks to this exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter.

Via The Hollywood Reporter

Screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are back in the spider’s web.

The duo, who worked on Spider-Man: Homecoming, are in final negotiations to return to the world of Peter Parker to write the sequel to the Sony Pictures/Marvel Studios hit.

Homecoming, a resetting of Sony’s Spider-Man franchise that places the new movies within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was a major hit for Sony, winning over critics and the comic book fans. It spun over $319 million domestically at the box office and $737 million worldwide. (The previous entry, 2014’s derided The Amazing Spider-Man 2, grossed $202 million domestically and $708 million worldwide.)

Sony and Marvel are hoping to keep many of the creative elements of Homecoming together and are already in talks to have Jon Watts return to the director’s chair. Tom Holland is set to return as the web-crawling hero.

Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is scheduled for a July 5, 2019, release.

McKenna and Sommers hail from the comedy and animation world, having been writer-producers on American Dad andCommunity (separately, McKenna wrote on The Mindy Project, with Sommers working on Happy Endings and Marry Me). The duo worked on The Lego Batman Movie and wrote on Sony and Marvel’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle andAnt-Man and the Wasp movies, respectively, before coming on board Homecoming.

Spiderman Has Been in the MCU for a While Now

With Spiderman:Homecoming just a week away not only is the anticipation building but we are starting to get a bit more information about Peter Parker. Now we initially thought that our first introduction to Peter in the MCU came in Captain America:Civil War but the web-slinger himself Tom Holland has delivered another tidbit of information.

Remember in Iron Man 2 when the hammer drones went rogue at the Stark Expo? Well there is a belief that the youngster wearing an Iron Man mask who stands up to one of Justin Hammer’s drones is, in fact, the future Spider-Man.

In a recent interview, the actor revealed that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has told him that the kid saved by Tony Stark is indeed Peter.

“I can confirm that is Peter Parker. I can confirm that as of today. I literally had a conversation with Kevin Feige only 20 minutes ago. Maybe I’ve just done a big, old spoiler, but it’s out there now. It’s cool,” he added. “I like the idea that Peter Parker has been in the universe since the beginning.”

Whether or not that was meant to be Peter at the time is hard to say and it’s something that only Feige and Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau probably know for sure. Either way, this is an incredible Easter Egg and one hell of a retcon which gives Spidey a very special place in the MCU. We’ll have to wait until next week to find out whether or not this moment is actually referenced in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
