SHAZAM! came through the feature film scene light a lightning bolt….ok bad pun I’ll stop. But none the less after the amazing feature debut of the big cheese starring Ashar Angel as Billy Batson and Zachary Levi as SHAZAM.
Levi started the panel in a “SHAZOOM” and attempted to take fan questions to none of which he could actually answering. But then he brings in Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Megan Good and Faithe Herman. After Zachary says that he had made his own Zach cut of the film, director David F. Sandberg showed up.
In a surprise legendary comedian SINBAD joins the panel and jokes about the theory that he was in a movie (that didnt exist) called SHAZAM. Followed up by Adam Brody we then get the official title of the sequel and its SHAZAM:FURY OF THE GODS.
These are two comic book movies where fans everywhere have been like “Oh you know there is gonna be a crossover of sorts happening.” Granted we all know the history between the two characters and not to mention a recently released deleted scene from SHAZAM! seems to further reference the big cheese’s arch nemesis.
Well now get ready to rev up the speculation machine even more because now it is being reported that both the SHAZAM! sequel and BLACK ADAM will both be shooting at the same time this July. Both films are currently in pre-production
Now SHAZAM! star Zachary Levi has said previously that the characters would not meet on the big screen until the third installment of the film. But the idea that both schedules align such as this and there is NO crossover seems kind of crazy. It most likely would be in a post-credits scene for SHAZAM! that the pair come in contact, especially since it would then be the lead in to the third film. Along with the concurrent filming schedules of both the release dates could also give clue that during filming something may happen. BLACK ADAM releases first on December 22nd, 2021 and SHAZAM! 2follows on April 1st, 2022.
Also this all may just be wishful thinking as the current slate of DCEU films have been standalone and has yielded much success for Warner Bros. There will of course be set photos showing cast members on opposite sets but locations will be the ultimate teller and then again they may just have the day off.
Just say the word, the sequel to Warner Bros and New Line Cinema’s hit superhero film, SHAZAM! will be striking back into theaters on April of 2022 with SHAZAM! 2. Zachary Levi is set to reprise his role as the big cheese, the adult version of Billy Batson. the film’s original screenplay writer Henry Gayden has been tapped to write the DC superhero movie’s sequel.
The first SHAZAM! made a shock at the box office for Levi, director David F. Sandberg and Peter Safran as it grossed $140 million domestically and $364 worldwide.
SHAZAM! starred Asher Angel as Billy Batson, an orphan who runs away from foster home to foster home in search of his mother whom he was separated from as a toddler. He is eventually bestowed magical superpowers unto him by a wizard (Djimon Hounsou), that transforms him into his full potential in adult form (Zachary Levi). He must battle Doctor Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) and stop the Seven Deadly Sins from reeking havoc and destruction upon the world. Billy is also aided in this task by his foster brother, Freddy Freeman (Jack Dylan Grazer) and their other foster siblings.
It is not yet been reported if Asher, Strong, Grazer as well the other foster children or even their adult counterparts will be returning to the film.
Something else worth nothing, Warner Bros just the day before announced that BLACK ADAMstarring Dwayne Johnson will be released in December of 2021. We have to wait and see if the end of that film will tie directly into this sequel.
Check out the panel our own resident super villain, Jay Washington moderated with Angel at FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention in April of this year.

We saw behind the scenes footage and photos of Zachary Levi as the child turned superhero, Shazam. Those pics had many people split over if they felt whether or not he would not only be able to pull off the hero in comedic tone but look as well.
Now thanks to Entertainment Weekly we have of first official look at Levi in the costume, cape and all.
The picture shows Levi as the fully transformed Shazam standing next to Freddy Freedman. With this picture being released and San Diego Comic Con Next Week it’s pretty much a safe bet that we will be getting a full trailer when DC invades Hall H next Saturday.
Could we also get a sneak peek of Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam?

We had been wondering what would Zachary Levi look like when he finally dons the costume of the child-like superhero and now we seem to have our first peek.
In what looks to be a set photo while filming SHAZAM! we see him in the iconic red suit and lets be honest from what we can see it doesnt look that bad but it does look padded. Let us know what you think.
Well the question of who will be the kid side of the Childlike superhero SHAZAM has been answered.
Asher Angel has been cast as Billy Batson opposite Zachary Levi in New Line’s DC superhero film “Shazam!,” as the story broke from Variety.
SHAZAM! follows a boy (Angel) who can transform into an adult superhero by uttering the magic word “Shazam!” in case you were what wondering what SHAZAM stands for. It is an acronym of the ancient gods and historical figures Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles, and Mercury, .
Mark Strong is in talks for the role of the villain, & Grace Fulton is set to play one of Angel’s friends.
David F. Sandberg of “Lights Out” is directing, with a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. “Annabelle: Creation’s” Peter Safran will produce.
In case you’re wondering where does this next superhero fall on the film production slate. “Shazam!” will be the next DC Cinematic Universe movie to begin shooting, before “Flashpoint,” (which still.doesnt habe a director) the Joss Whedon-directed “Batgirl,” and the “Suicide Squad” sequel, which Gavin O’Connor just came aboard to helm. There is also going to be standalone film about Black Adam, Shazam’s arch nemesis. Dwayne Johnson is attached to play Black Adam in that pic. But as of now is not set to be in the shale film only his own solo Black Adam project.
