Being Nervous Playing The Joker?? Joaquin Phoenix Says He Is Not At All

Let us say this first and foremost: it has not OFFICIALLY been announced that Phoenix will take on the mantle of the Clown Prince of Crime, but Phoenix has said that he is up to the challenge and not afraid to fill the big shoes .

Those shoes of course belong to the late Heath Ledger. His portrayal of the Joker in “The Dark Knight” was so captivating it won him an Oscar for best supporting actor. In a recent interview the actor did not confirm nor deny that he would be part of the Todd Phillips standalone film that is reportedly going to be set in the 90s.

“I don’t know about that movie or character specifically, but I was thinking about it’s interesting with comics there’s different writers and artists that come on. It’s different than this character from literature being uniquely that. There are different interpretations. It’s so interesting; I was just thinking about it today, it seems so unique in some ways to comic books. I think there’s probably room for that. Maybe it’s like doing a play, like you always hear about people doing something, ‘You should have seen this actor in this performance,’ but then other actors do it and it’s a different kind of film. I think that genre, comic books, kind of lends itself to having different people play the same character and interpret it in a different way. It’s kind of built into the source material in some ways. I think it’s cool when people do that.”

Phoenix could definitely pull off the role but there has been much hesitation as to who should be under the makeup after the less than well received criticism of Academy Award winner, Jared Leto from the Suicide Squad film. He may definitely have an easier  chance if you will, with this project said to be closely following the source material.

What do you all think? Do you want to see Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker in a Joker origin film or do you even want an origin film at all? Let us know below.
