Aldis Hodge Set To Take Flight As Hawkman In BLACK ADAM

After starring in CITY ON THE HILL and showing up in the Blumhouse remake of THE INVISIBLE MAN, Aldis Hodge is now soaring into the DC film Universe as it is being reporting he will take flight as Hawkman in the BLACK ADAM movie starring Dwayne Johnson. Jaume Collet-Serra, who directed Johnson in the upcoming Disney adventure film JUNGLE CRUISE is directing.

Hodge’s Hawkman, if the film goes with original version from when he was introduced in 1940 was from Ancient Egypt and he is one half of a pair of lovers who are destined to be together throughout time and space being reincarnated. In Hawkman’s contemporary time he is Carter Hall, an archaeologist-turned-adventurer who struggles with anger issues and his ability to control a mace.

Hawkman is also a member of the Justice Society of America which will be introduced in the film. Some of the members of the society set to appear are Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) along with Doctor Fate and Cyclone both who have not been cast as of yet.

As of now BLACK ADAM is still due out Dec. 22, 2021.

BLACK ADAM Gives Us More Electricity Than Expected

Yesterday, thanks to the most electrifying man in all of entertainment we we able to get our first glimpse at him in the suit for the upcoming DC Comics film, BLACK ADAM.

Now today at DC FanDome we got a better look in the form of an amazing video courtesy of Boss Logic. We got Dwayne Johnson saying that he loved the origins of Adam being a slave.

He later brings in Noah Centineo who will be playing Atom Smasher and they speak on the workouts and training. They also talk about the introduction of the JSA to the big screen.

We find out that along with Atom Smasher and the Cyclone we will also get Hawkman and Doctor Fate. We want to know your thoughts.

Noah Centineo Joins BLACK ADAM With Dwayne Johnson

the rock as black adam

We have known for a while that pre production was set to begin on BLACK ADAM. But now due to COVID-19 and some of the film productions resuming we’re not 100% sure when that will begin.

But we do know a new addition to the cast that stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular anti-hero and is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra who will also direct Johnson in the upcoming THE JUNGLE CRUISE.

Noah Centineo best known for TO ALL THE BOYS IVE LOVED BEFORE is joining the DC film in the role of Atom Smasher, a character who can control his molecular structure and is able to manipulate his size and strength.  The character has been seen before in an episode of The CW’S THE FLASH.

BLACK ADAM And SHAZAM 2 Are Set To Film During The Same Time This Summer

These are two comic book movies where fans everywhere have been like “Oh you know there is gonna be a crossover of sorts happening.” Granted we all know the history between the two characters and not to mention a recently released deleted scene from SHAZAM! seems to further reference the big cheese’s arch nemesis.

Well now get ready to rev up the speculation machine even more  because now it is being reported that both the SHAZAM! sequel and BLACK ADAM will both be shooting at the same time this July. Both films are currently in pre-production

Now SHAZAM! star Zachary Levi has said previously that the characters would not meet on the big screen until the third installment of the film. But the idea that both schedules align such as this and there is NO crossover seems kind of crazy. It most likely would be in a post-credits scene for SHAZAM! that the pair come in contact, especially since it would then be the lead in to the third film.  Along with the concurrent filming schedules of both the release dates could also give clue that during filming something may happen.
BLACK ADAM releases first on December 22nd, 2021 and SHAZAM! 2 follows on April 1st, 2022.

Also this all may just be wishful thinking as the current slate of DCEU films have been standalone and has yielded much success for Warner Bros. There will of course be set photos showing cast members on opposite sets but locations will be the ultimate teller  and then again they may just have the day off.

BLACK ADAM Officially Has A Release Date

FB_IMG_1573752036952

We’d all known the Dwayne Johnson would be portraying SHAZAM’s main big bad, Black Adam in his own feature film but no one knew when it would arrive. It seemed as if it was the longest of ways away until the successful debut of SHAZAM in theaters and the former WWE Champion let the world know that BLACK ADAM was going into pre-production.

Now thanks to Johnson we have another update as well as a release date. Johnson posted to his official facebook page.

“The Man in Black ⚡️
Like most kids growing up, I dreamed about being a superhero. Having cool superpowers, fighting for what’s right and always protecting the people.
It all changed for me, when I was 10yrs old and was first introduced to the greatest superhero of all time – SUPERMAN.
As a kid, Superman was the hero I always wanted to be.
But, a few years into my fantasy, I realized that Superman was the hero, I could never be.
I was too rebellious. Too rambunctious. Too resistant to convention and authority.
Despite my troubles, I was still a good kid with a good heart – I just liked to do things my way.
Now, years later as a man, with the same DNA I had as a kid – my superhero dreams have come true.
I’m honored to join the iconic #DCUniverse and it’s a true pleasure to become, BLACK ADAM.
BLACK ADAM is blessed by magic with the powers equal to SUPERMAN, but the difference is he doesn’t toe the mark or walk the line.
He’s a rebellious, one of a kind superhero, who’ll always do what’s right for the people – but he does it his way.
Truth and justice – the BLACK ADAM way.
This role is unlike any other I’ve ever played in my career and I’m grateful to the bone we’ll all go on this journey together.
BLACK ADAM
12.22.21 ⚡️”

I love the palindrome of the date of December 22, 2021 but now the anticipation for this film goes full steam ahead. It is also interest that he firmly describes Black Adam as a SUPERHERO and not an Anti-hero as formally mentioned.

The BLACK ADAM film is getting more traction as Variety is reporting that JUNGLE CRUISE director Jaume Collet-Serra is in negotiations to direct Johnson’s first romp into the superhero world.

BLACK ADAM became a priority after the success of SHAZAM! New Line Cinema originally wanted to introduce the character in the first SHAZAM! movie but the producing team quickly made the conscious effort to separate the two characters with a “Black Adam” solo pic. There is also rumor of Black Adam being involved in THE SUICIDE SQUAD.

Dwayne Johnson Gives Thanks For The Success Of SHAZAM And An Update On Black Adam

SHAZAM

Following the success of SHAZAM! at the box office this weekend one of its producers, Dwayne Johnson took to instagram to express gratitude to the critics and fans.

He also gave somewhat of an update on the solo Black Adam film as he mentions with the development of SHAZAM!. Johnson says “the film had a difficult production as it was initially struggling to tell 2 origin stories (for Black Adam and Shazam!)  before the decision was made to save Black Adam for his own solo film”. Johnson also goes one to say that cameras should start rolling in “about a year.

Black Adam in the “Suicide Squad”?

landscape-1494926449-the-rock-black-adam

For the past week  there has been so much talk about New Line Cinema & DC’S “SHAZAM!”. From who will play the titular character and his youthful counterpart to who will potentially be his nemesis. But the question has constantly come up about SHAZAM’s greatest opponent Black Adam & where would he fit in with the film.

Well we all know that Dwayne Johnson is set to be Black Adam in an upcoming solo film that does not include the aforementioned SHAZAM. But now we may be finding out where he is making his debut.

Now according to an exclusive from The Wrap, the plot of Suicide Squad 2 will revolve around “members of Suicide Squad [who are] tasked with tracking down a weapon of mass destruction.” That weapon is apparenty…. you guessed it …..or maybe you didn’t Black Adam.

So this shouldn’t come a too much of a shock. Because Johnson himself teased a surprise introduction for the villain earlier this year, when he told Fandango: “We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced.” Granted he didn’t say much but he kinda told us it would be in another movie before his own solo film.

Even though Suicide Squad 2, doesn’t have a set release date yet it’s expected to begin early 2018.
Are you pumped up for this potential cameo or would just rather see Black Adam in SHAZAM?

“Sinestro” may end up in SHAZAM

mark-strong-dr-sivana-shazam-620x400

Maybe not the villain Sinestro directly but the man who portrayed him may be facing DC’s latest hero to join the film world.

In an EXCLUSIVE from The Wrap

Mark Strong is in talks to play DC Comics villain Doctor Sivana in New Line’s “Shazam,” TheWrap has exclusively learned.

Strong is no stranger to DC as the actor has previously play villain Sinestro in 2011’s “Green Lantern” opposite then Green Lantern Ryan Reynolds.

Known as Shazam’s archenemy and most frequent foe, in 2009, Doctor Sivana was ranked as IGN’s 82nd Greatest Comic Book Villain of All Time. In the most recent run of DC Comics the New 52 that “Shazam,” is loosely based on,  Sivana is depicted as a respected scientistdesperate to save his family from an unknown plight. With science having failed him, he turns to magic. Doctor Sivana’s team finds what he believes to be the tomb of Black Adam; while attempting to open it, the scientist is half-blinded by magical lightning to the face (which has the side-effect of letting him see magic).

David Sandberg, the horror filmmaker behind “Lights Out” and “Annabelle: Creation,” will direct the film. Filming will begin in February 2018 for a likely 2019 release.

Zachary Levi joined the cast last week and will play “Shazam.”

Strong, who won an Oliver for “A View From the Bridge” and was last seen in “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” next up has eight-part espionage thriller “Deep State,” for Fox Networks Group. Strong stars as Max Easton, a retired Secret Service operative and member of elite British/America team called The Section, coaxed back into the field to try to shut down an Iranian missile program.

Could we potentially see Dwayne Johnson’s “Black Adam” make an appearance of any other heroes of the DCEU?
