BRENDAN FRASER To Portray FIREFLY In Upcoming BATGIRL Movie

While already making waves in the DC Universe as the voice of Cliff Steele aka Robotman on HBO Max’s DOOM PATROL, it seems that Brendan Fraser is expanding his reach in the world of DC Comics as he is set to join the upcoming HBO MAX movie, BATGIRL starring Leslie Grace. 

It has been reported via DEADLINE and their sources, that Fraser is set to take on the role of the supervillain Firefly in the pic.  BAD BOYS FOR LIFE directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are helming the film and Christina Hodson (BIRDS OF PREY) wrote the script.

Exact plot details on the film have yet to be released it is known that Lesile Grace will portray Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon,  behind the cape in this version. It is not confirmed if whether or not this Barbara Gordon is the daughter of Jim Gordon played by Jeffrey Wright in the upcoming THE BATMAN film starring Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz and directed by Matt Reeves. 

The character of Firefly is a supervillain whose real name is Garfield Lynns most often known for going against Batman and Robin, and sometimes Green Arrow. He is a pyromaniac who became horrendously scarred all over his body after a chemical explosion, leading him to wear a flame proof bodysuit during his crimes. The character was seen in the first season of ARROW on The CW and a female version of the character, Bridgit Pike  was introduced in the TV series Gotham.

The film will bow on HBO Max, marking one of the first major DC properties to debut exclusively on the streamer. No release date has been set.

BATGIRL Finds Its Lead In Leslie Grace

After having it come down to four actresses to see who will step into the role of the crime fighting, Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl. It seems one has won the contest and soon will be donning her own cape and cowl to fight crime in Gotham City.Leslie Grace, has been tapped to play Barbara Gordon in the Warner Bros and DC film, BATGIRL. It is reported that studio was already super high on Grace following her breakout role in IN THE HEIGHTS, and sources say her audition sealed the deal as the choice. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will direct the film from a script by Christina Hodson (who also wrote the BIRDS OF PREY film). Kristin Burr is set to produce.  

BATGIRL is set to arrive exclusively on the HBO Max streaming platform. This along with other titles such as BLUE BEETLE directed by Angel Manuel Soto along with the upcoming STATIC SHOCK film are set to be solely on. HBO Max. 

Now the plot of the film is still under wraps, it is known that Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Gordon, will be the character behind the cape in this version. Gordon is the most established version of the Batgirl character and was first introduced in 1961 as Betty Kane.

WESTWORLD’s Jeffrey Wright May Become THE BATMAN’s Commissioner Gordon

If you want to have someone who will be the police liaison and ally if you would to Robert Pattinson’s dark knight in THE BATMAN this here is a wonderful choice.

Jeffrey Wright (WESTWORLD) is in negotiations to join Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN as Jim Gordon.  At the time of this article being written nothing is official. The reason the title of Commissioner was not used with Gordon’s name is because it is not known yet what phase of his career will we see Gordon in. We know that the film will center around a younger Dark Knight but that does not give the stage of Gordon’s police career whether he is the Commissioner or if he is still a detective.

THE BATMAN is set to arrive in theaters on June 25, 2021

James Gunn Reveals THE SUICIDE SQUAD Cast

It seemed like nonstop we were either hearing new additions or rumors of addition to Warner Bros THE SUICIDE SQUAD written and directed by James Gunn. Well Gunn himself has offically revealed the cast of the upcoming sequel on Twitter.

The new additions include Alice Braga (QUEEN OF THE SOUTH,  I AM LEGEND), Joaquin Cosio (RAMBO), Mayling Ng (WONDER WOMAN), Juan Diego Botto (GOOD BEHAVIOR), Storm Reid (EUPHORIA, A WRINKLE IN TIME),Tinashe Kajese (COLD CASE), Julio Ruiz (CRIMINAL MINDS) and Jennifer Holland (BRIGHTBURN).

This also officially confirms Michael Rooker, Pete Davidson and Taika Waititi as members of the film.

A WRINKLE IN TIME Star Is Heading To the Squad

Storm Reid The Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad that is. Storm Reid from A WRINKLE IN TIME has signed on to join James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD. Now it is being reported that Reid is set to play Idris Elba’s daughter in the film. Elba, who was recently revealed to be portraying Brock Turner aka Bronze Tiger in the film will be part of the group of anti-heroes based on DC Comics characters.

The group includes returning cast members, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinneman as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller along with newcomers Daniela Melchior, John Cena and David Dastmalchian.

JUNGLE CRUISE Director To Set Sail With DC’s BLACK ADAM

The BLACK ADAM film is getting more traction as Variety is reporting that JUNGLE CRUISE director Jaume Collet-Serra is in negotiations to direct Johnson’s first romp into the superhero world.

BLACK ADAM became a priority after the success of SHAZAM! New Line Cinema originally wanted to introduce the character in the first SHAZAM! movie but the producing team quickly made the conscious effort to separate the two characters with a “Black Adam” solo pic. There is also rumor of Black Adam being involved in THE SUICIDE SQUAD.

We Now Know Who Idris Elba Will Be In THE SUICIDE SQUAD

There had been much speculation as to who Idris Elba would be portraying in James Gunn reboot/sequel THE SUICIDE SQUAD. Now it seems as if the guessing game is over as it is being reported that Elba will be Brock Turner a.k.a BRONZE TIGER.

Forbes is reporting the character for the British actor. now Bronze Tiger has already been seen within the DC television universe. He is portrayed by Michael Jai White in Arrow and he is known for being a member of Task Force X also known as the Suicide Squad. Turner is also one of the greatest martial artists in the DC Universe, a member of the League of Assassins, and has something of a frenemy relationship with Deathstroke.

Now of course there will be a Deathstroke in the DC Universe TITANS season 2 but the merc was portrayed by Joe Manganiello in JUSTICE LEAGUE. 

Idris Elba can be seen this summer in the upcoming HOBBS AND SHAW film with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.
