The flagship show for the DC universe will not be slowing down or stopping anytime soon. TITANS on the DC Universe has been renewed for a 3rd season. The mature-themed original Series and its Season 2 has new episodes available every Friday.
The current season of introduced Esai Morales as the title team’s archenemy, Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke, notorious as the most dangerous assassin in the DC Universe. Along with Slade, his children Jericho and Rose (Chella Man and Chelsea Zhang – respectively), Connor Kent aka Superboy (Joshua Orpin), Mercy Graves (Natalie Gumede) and others have been introduced this season.
TITANS stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Conor Leslie as Wonder Girl, Minka Kelly as Dove, Alan Ritchson as Hawk and Iain Glenn as Bruce Wayne.
While the anticipation for the arrival of the sophomore season of TITANS on the DC Universe on September 6 is growing we are still getting casting announcements that are pumping those expectations higher.
GOOD GIRLS REVOLT alum Genevieve Angelson has been added as Dr. Eve Watson, a researcher who has “conflicted feelings about her recent work” for Cadmus Labs.
The infamous Cadmus Labs was of course glimpsed in the Season 1 finale’s “bonus” scene, where an angry Connor Kent aka Superboy (to be played by Australian actor Joshua Orpin) appeared to be breaking loose and fighting his way to freedom along with the superdog, Krypto.
The DC Universe Streaming platform is coming back to San Diego Comic Con and they are bringing along some amazing sneak-peeks and first looks of YOUNG JUSTICE: OUTSIDERS, TITANS, DOOM PATROL and more. But along with incredible news and footage they will be bringing some EXCLUSIVE posters.
Check them out below.
As you can see KRYPTO the superdog is front and center in this poster. We were introduced to Krypto along with Superboy in the season finale post credit scene of Titans.
There is much more of what we saw during the amazing first season of DOOM PATROL from Ezekiel the cockroach, the De-Creator and Re-creator, the chief being lost and more.
SWAMP THING is up next and with the series unfortunate cancellation we really cant expect much going forward.
The final one is for YOUNG JUSTICE OUTSIDERS which has come back with a bang and kept the momentum rolling from the first half of the season.
These are available to DC Universe Members at the 50th anniversary.
Even as production on season two of TITANS on the DC Universe is well underway we are still getting new and exciting casting news. Mercy Graves is coming to the superhero show and she will be played by DOCTOR WHO alum, Natalie Gumede. Graves is known as the formidable bodyguard and ruthless righthand to evil genius and megalomaniac, Lex Luthor.
The news which was first broken by Deadline says that Gumede is best known for her portrayal of Ashley in the Doctor Who Christmas Special in 2014 and more recently the 10-part Jekyll & Hyde series on ITV as the head of the criminal underworld in 1930s London.
The official character bio from the show’s producers: “Mercy Graves is the ruthless, cunning, right hand and bodyguard to the notorious Lex Luthor – serving her boss with unquestioned loyalty. Her connection to the Luthors runs deep, as Mercy has been a friend of the family and in Lex’s life since they were young.”
The characater of Mercy Graves was also seen on this recents episode of SUPERGIRL on the CW by Rhona Mitra. Now its wondering who will possibly be portraying Lex Luthor.
What are your thoughts and who do you hope to see as Lex in the series?
If you know the Mad Titan’s own resident super villain, Jay Washington then you know how much the official announcement of this casting of this particular character had him excited. TITANS on the DC Universe streaming platform now has its Deathstroke in Esai Morales.
Morales known for Bad Boys, Rapa Nui, Mi Familia, Fast Food Nation, Paid in Full, The Line, Ozark (Netflix), Mozart In The Jungle (Amazon Prime), Curb Your Enthusiasm (HBO), and Chicago PD(NBC) and more will take on the mantle of one of the Teen Titans (comics) most fought adversary.
According to the character bio, this version of Deathstroke, “Slade Wilson is known for being DC’s deadliest assassin. While serving his country, Slade became an elite soldier before government testing enhanced his physiology to near superhuman levels, putting him on a path of darkness and revenge. To his family, Slade is a father and husband, but to the rest of the world, he is feared by many as the infamous Deathstroke; selling his services to the highest bidder as the ruthless assassin that never gives up and never misses.” The character was most recently portrayed by Manu Bennett on Arrow.
It seems as if the dangerous Wilson family is complete for TITANS on the DC Universe. Over the weekend it was announced that Chelsea T. Zhang from the Disney channel’s Andi Mack will be portraying Rose Wilson a.k.a Ravager, Slade Wilson (Deathstroke’s) daughter.
Now for those not familar with the comic lore of the character Wilson has been depicted as both an enemy to and member of The Titans, and based on the official character description, it sounds like this small-screen take on Ravager is going to follow a similarly duplicitous path.
“Daughter of the deadly assassin, Deathstroke, Rose Wilson was forced to undergo the same procedure that granted her father nearly superhuman abilities, becoming a weapon known as Ravager. Ever resentful, she seeks out the Titans not only for their protection but to get back at her father. Knowing how dangerous it is to be the offspring of their deadliest foe, the Titans take her in but that doesn’t necessarily mean they trust her.”
Zhang joins Chella Man as Jericho, and Esai Morales as Slade Wilson. Season 2 of Titans doesn’t have a premiere date, but filing is expected to begin next month.
It was recently reported that Titans on the DC Universe had cast its Deathstroke aka Slade Wilson in Esai Morales. Well we now know who will play one of Slade’s children in Joseph Wilson aka Jericho.
Popular YouTube personality, Chella Man will take on the role. Man who is deaf, Genderqueer, Chinese, and Jewish, made a name for himself with his popular YouTube channel and has also done some modelling, but this will be his first major acting role.
The breakdown of this take on Joe WIlson is “mute after his father failed to rescue him from having his vocal cords severed by assassins, Jericho has the unique ability to possess anyone just by making eye contact. This gentle natured yet proud hero has proven himself a formidable Titan.”
The casting announcement for Deathstroke’s daughter Rose Wilson/Ravager has yet to be made.
If you remember how the first season of Titans on the DC Universe ended the lack of an engaging cliff hanger let the season end on a flat note. This however is do to a decision to cut an episode. However a bit was made up with a very nice suprising post-credit scene showing CADMUS and both Superboy and Krypto making their escape. This of course is going to send the direction of the show in a very interesting way.
We could not see the person who was the future hero as we only saw a silhouette. Now we know who will be the face when Titans returns for season two. Joshua Orpin who is an Australian actor will don the role. Orpin is a relatively unknown having only been in a couple of shorts
Now, someone has been chosen to suit up as Superman’s clone and that is Australian actor Joshua Orpin. He’s only appeared in a couple of shorts and a TV movie so the streaming service has gone for an unknown here, which is definitely an interesting decision.
This take on Superboy has been described as an “angsty teenager of steel.”
It’s said that he’s searching for the truth about his past after being experimented on by CADMUS but that leads to him crossing paths with the Titans, something which results in “revelations that carry more complications than he ever bargained for.”
One of DC’s greatest villains, Deathstroke the Terminator aka Slade Wilson is expected to debut in the second season of successful DC streaming show, Titans in some capacity, and now it may be that the mercenary is not going to be tormenting the heroes by himself. .
Thanks to a report from That Hashtag Show, both Joseph Wilson, aka Jericho, and Rose Wilson, aka Ravager, will be joining their father when the DC Universe series returns for its sophomore run.
Late last year Geoff Johns teased a different take on Deathstroke for the show, and this report seems to back that tease up. This incarnation of the mercenary is described as “a military man with a family but whose demanding nature tore that family apart.” Rose, meanwhile, will be introduced as “a strong, yet damaged woman looking to put her past behind her and find a new family to replace the one that her father destroyed.”
In the comics, Ravager has been portrayed as both an antagonist and member of The Titans, so there’s a decent chance the show will follow suit in that regard. A version of Ravager was attempted in the second season of Arrow by Summer Glau. Apparently, mixed Latinx and mixed Asian actresses in the 18-21 age range are being looked at for the role.
A version of Joe Wilson was done during the 3rd annual Arrowverse crossover played by Liam Hall.
Batgirl has been a name that has arisen within the DC Universe as of recently. many have wondered would she appear in the upcoming Birds of Prey( and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) or her solo film is currently being developed and was going to be written and directed by Joss Whedon at one point. Now Bumblebee and Birds of Prey‘s Christina Hodson. We now have more to add to the hype due to a recent social media post.
After a successful first season on the DC Universe streaming platform, Titans Season 2 filming is expected to begin filming in March and Brenton Thwaites recently teased a possible Batgirl appearance on his Instagram Story:
Does this mean we may see Barbara Gordon appear in the sophomore festival? Let us know of your thoughts.
